This is good, but the people who could do something about it aren't going to watch it:

*Boots up time machine*

*Arrives in 2009*

"In 2019 the most famous bad ass hollywood actors like Robert de Niro and the guy that played Morpheus in the Matrix are reduced to taping Trump protest videos because he is the President of the United States."

Trump has been pretty consistent in that he doesn’t want long conflicts and he likes the idea of “decisive fast paced operations” (sucker punch them). Probably somebody told him that civilians dying has the risk of escalating  the conflict to a full war rather than Iran backing down. Of course it has to do with him wanting to be re-elected but he has been consistent on this stuff outside of him trying to bluff on twitter or in a interview. Why the fuck he decided to give a war hawk like Bolton a position of power is he being distinguished mentally-challenged fellowed like always.

that feel when when you're qualifying trumps actions.

People need to stop giving credit to trump and this admin for "oh they didn't start a war" shit.

Their fucking jobs are to be aware of this stuff and NOT be on the brink of a war.

fuck.

Can't believe I am saying it, but Cauli is spot on. He is graded on such a curve. I just saw the TYT guy tweet that if Trump doesn't start a war he is officially a better president than GWB. Was that necessary? Why go out of your way to praise this dude for not being a war criminal? Is the bar really set this low?

I agree with both cauliflower and boredfrom. Trump is so out of his league right now and he's just blustering forward. I think he really did think he could just scare the Iranians by parking his boats in their gulf and choking their economy. I'm sure Bolton and Pompeo were telling him the whole time that he should be prepared for military action but he wasn't listening and completely sure a shot wouldn't have to be fired. Well, Persians don't fuck around and the entire country has already unified against the US. It hasn't been this unified in decades. They're going to keep stockpiling enriched uranium, we're going to miss their deadline, they're going to go past the redline, and Trump will end up feeling more justified about bombing the shit out of the country. After that, all hell breaks loose, I guess.

We're not mobilized right now to go against a country like Iran at all and we'd be relying on Saudi, Israel, and if Egypt wants to get involved I don't know. That's why the DoD wanted to send 100,000 more troops over there but we only ended up sending like 6000 or something. Who knows what Russia does, too. A war would be extremely destructive to most of the region.

Yeah I'm sure he meant well, but it reads like he's saying having a border separating us from Mexican criminals like Boredfrom is what makes 'Murrica great.

Both can be true. I think we forgot at how a) horrible the Bush years were in terms of real worth gains for younger generations, b) how that administration laid the seeds to the current social ills we're facing (higher higher ed tuition, housing crisis in major cities, and c) the failure of the supposed 'adults' that both served in the Bush and Trump administration showing that somehow they are both waste of spaces and incapable of improving the situation. If anything, they're more incompetent than the Trumpists they replaced.

Let me put it this way, there's nobody as outright evil and villainous as Dick Cheney serving in this administration.

I'm just saying, let's not gas him up for no reason. Give credit where it's due, you can say "you did the right thing Mr. President" but going into some weird Nintex-like rhetoric?  :gurl

Bush started Afghanistan and Iraq

Obama started Libya, Syria, and Yemen.

Trump is doing pretty well in comparison.

Those awful old recipes fascinate me as cultural artifacts.

Do they actually represent real trends from the time, or are they like the sped-up videos of someone making a five layer panini with seven different types of meat?

I wager people did them, but indulged less often in those ultra-rich and "fancy" recipes.

Quote from: Tulsi Gabbard
Elizabeth Warren Kamala Harris — Joe Biden did not "celebrate" or “coddle” segregationists. His critics have unfairly misrepresented his important message to score cheap political points. I agree with Jim Clyburn and Joe Biden: in order for the Congress and the president to get things done for the American people, there needs to be civility in Washington and in the country — the ability to work with those who we disagree, even those who hold some views which we abhor. In order for Congress to work for the American people, we need to find common ground with each other. That is not possible without civility. We don’t need another president who is going to continue to divide our country. We need a president who will unite us. United we stand, divided we fall.

She is the only one who can heal this multiyear internecine struggle. For the revanchists she has a clear lineage to Clinton (Our Undying Lord Lady), for the social fascists she's trended leftward since heading to Washington and they can think that will continue in office even though it's exceedingly unlikely, and for the unaligned, well, she doesn't seem to have very many sincerely held beliefs either.

We could probably debate all day to the usefulness of Pod Save America but regarding the Biden latest gaffe there was much consternation to be had because it's apparently not a secret that Biden's own team desperately tried to convince him to use any other of the many other instances Biden co-sponsored bills with non-openly racist Republicans (instead of a segregationist Democrat) to illustrate his point. But the man is stubborn as a mule, he loves that story that he used regurlary over the years and didn't feel like making the effort.

Cheney's brand of evil was "Let's do wars to make lots of money," while Trump's brand of evil is a much more personal "Let's inflict maximum pain on an already marginalized group to make racist white people happy."

Trump loves reality TV-style drama, so the latter is certainly a possibility. But we also have to consider the fact that he's kinda stupid.
