How are most Americans perceiving the Portland protests?

We aren't because it isn't being covered off the internet.

I found some coverage here. Gotta say, I'm pretty "pro" atm.

Best possible answer by Pete. Late term abortion questions are always a hypothetical within a vacuum. "Do you support this terrible thing, yes or no you have 60 seconds." Yet the actual decision to have that late of an abortion is not made within a vacuum...there are real life circumstances that go into making that decision...and yea, it's best left to the mother to decide. End of story.

The man complained about veterans’ hospitals. Delaney, hoping to appease him, said he would allow veterans to visit a wider range of hospitals for their care. The man in the cap said that was exactly the plan he was opposed to. Delaney said he would talk to him about it later, then carried on with his speech. The man in the cap slumped in his chair, mumbling something to himself.

- Congress and Senate pass the bipartisan "Privatization of Government Property Act" in order to balance the budget, redundant and vacated government properties are to be sold
- Donald Jr. and Mnuchin announce the Trump Organization has bought the White House, the Washington monument and the surrounding areas. Ivanka boasts the Trumps will turn it into the biggest and most luxurious golf resort the world has ever seen
- Trump continues to Make America Great Again from inside the White House and has told aides he will refuse to leave because it is now his property
- Joe Biden does not remember running for President let alone winning the election.
- Vice President Elect Warren, attempting to take-over from President-elect Biden is rebuked by Centrist Democrats and Republicans for trying to turn America into a socialist state
- Mitch McConnell calls the Democratic party 'broken beyond repair' and tables a motion to allow Donald Trump to remain President until the constitutional crisis is solved in order to stabilize the markets

why pocahontas keep saying this dumb shid   :mueller

Just cause a president uses a slur doesn't mean it's OK. :wag

Also Wall Street hates the CFPB and has made no bones about lobbying (mostly Republican) legislators to either dismantle it or stack it with anti-consumer partisans.

It's time to build on the CFPB's foundation as virtually the only 21st century example of a new bipartisan federal agency that actually works.

Quote
Nine Democratic candidates for president have qualified for next month's Climate Crisis Town Hall, which will air exclusively on CNN platforms, and eight of them have said they will participate.

CNN is devoting the evening of Sept. 4 to the climate crisis. Eight of the Democratic candidates have accepted CNN's invitation to discuss this critically important issue: former Vice President Joe Biden; Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey; South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg; Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota; former Rep. Beto O'Rourke of Texas; Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont; Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts; and businessman Andrew Yang.

Citing a scheduling conflict, Sen. Kamala Harris of California declined CNN's invitation.

CNN anchors Erin Burnett, Anderson Cooper, Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon will moderate individual candidate segments, and CNN Chief Climate Correspondent Bill Weir will join in the questioning throughout the event.
Quote
Candidates have until Wednesday to qualify for this town hall. CNN will extend invitations to Democratic presidential hopefuls who reach 2% in at least four Democratic National Committee-approved polls conducted between June 28 and Aug. 21.

White House officials eyeing payroll tax cut in effort to reverse weakening economy
https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/white-house-officials-eyeing-payroll-tax-cut-in-effort-to-reverse-weakening-economy/2019/08/19/4cab28ec-c2bd-11e9-b72f-b31dfaa77212_story.html?noredirect=on

Quote
Several senior White House officials have begun discussing whether to push for a temporary payroll tax cut as a way to arrest an economic slowdown, three people familiar with the discussions said, revealing growing concerns about the economy among President Trump’s top economic aides.

The talks are still in their early stages and have included a range of other tax breaks. The officials also have not decided whether to formally push Congress to approve any of these measures, these people said, speaking on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to disclose internal discussions. But the White House in recent days has begun searching for proposals that could halt a slowing economy.

Quote
Discussing whether to cut payroll taxes is part of a rapidly evolving effort within the White House to both exude confidence about the economy’s strength while simultaneously hunting for ways to rescue business and consumer confidence. Business spending already has pulled back, in part because of fears about the trade war, but consumer spending has remained robust. If ordinary Americans begin to tighten their belts later this year, the economy could suffer new strain.

Millions of Americans pay a “payroll tax” on their earnings, a 6.2 percent levy that is used to finance Social Security programs. The payroll tax was last cut in 2011 and 2012 during the Obama administration to 4.2 percent, as a way to encourage more consumer spending during the recent economic downturn. But the cut was allowed to reset back up to 6.2 percent in 2013.

Say what you will about the Bush administration, at least they were consistent. I see no consistency here, just a constant attempt to hide the fact that the basement is on fire and it's time to exit the fucking building. Consumer spending is at a good point right now, despite the tariffs. Any modest stimulus provided by a payroll tax cut could easily be eaten up by tariffs, especially as Trump dangles more and more threats. This is nonsense. There is no policy.
