Virginia House passes bill to award electoral votes to whoever wins the national popular vote
Quote
The Democratic-led Virginia House of Delegates has passed legislation that seeks to award the state's electoral votes to the presidential candidate that wins the national popular vote in an election.

The measure, also known as House Bill 177, passed the legislative chamber in a 51-46 vote on Tuesday after clearing the body's Privileges and Elections Committee in a vote last week.

If the legislation is passed by the Senate, where Democrats also hold control, and signed into law by the governor, Virginia would subsequently be entered into the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.

"Under the compact, Virginia agrees to award its electoral votes to the presidential ticket that receives the most popular votes in all 50 states and the District of Columbia," a bill summary states. "The compact goes into effect when states cumulatively possessing a majority of the electoral votes have joined the compact."

Now if only all other states did the same.

Smart business:

Secret Service has paid rates as high as $650 a night for rooms at Trump’s properties

Quote
And at the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster, the Secret Service was charged $17,000 a month to use a three-bedroom cottage on the property, an unusually high rent for homes in that area, according to receipts from 2017. Trump’s company billed the government even for days when Trump wasn’t there.

These payments appear to contradict the Trump Organization’s own statements about what it charges members of his government entourage. “If my father travels, they stay at our properties for free — meaning, like, cost for housekeeping,” Trump’s son Eric said in a Yahoo Finance interview last year.

Warren :teehee
Isn't a Governor. And you call yourself Dogmod, ruler of all he sees.

does mass have the most governors with failed presidential bids? romney, patrick, weld...any more?

edit: oh duh, dukakis
Benjamin Butler makes five. That's still less than New York.

Wisconsin has four with Robert La Follette, John Blaine, Tommy Thompson and Scott Walker.

If you are willing to count someone who eventually won after losing, California has six with Hiram Johnson, Earl Warren, Pat Brown, Ronald Reagan, Jerry Brown and Pete Wilson.

The old defunct "favorite son" practice sorta complicates this; sometimes they'd get nominated for this and suddenly become a bigger candidate or even the nominee. But if they never did oh, well, totally a favorite son definitely didn't have bigger aspirations, nope.

Shocking: Republicans ready to look past Trump’s brash intervention in Roger Stone case
Quote
Trump this week publicly decried a Justice Department sentencing recommendation for political operative Roger Stone, then congratulated Attorney General William P. Barr in an early-morning tweet Wednesday for “taking charge” and overruling it — creating at least the appearance that the long-standing taboo against overt political influence on prosecutorial matters had been obliterated.

But what ensued on Capitol Hill on Wednesday appeared to be less of a break-the-glass moment of crisis and more of a recurring episode in a three-year-old soap opera: While Democrats were aghast, members of the president’s party either expressed mild dismay or excused Trump’s tampering entirely.

“It doesn’t bother me at all, as long as the judge has the final decision,” said Sen. Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa), a former Senate Judiciary Committee chairman who sharply criticized the administration of President Barack Obama for alleged politicization of the Justice Department.
Quote
The GOP reaction this week was markedly different from when, in 2016, then-Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch met privately with former president Bill Clinton on a plane at the Phoenix airport while federal investigators moved to close the case on Hillary Clinton as she moved toward the Democratic presidential nomination.

Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tex.) at the time called for a special prosecutor to take over the Clinton case. On Wednesday, he fully defended the decision to overrule the front-line prosecutors’ sentencing decision.

“I think the world is sort of turned on its head where subordinates somehow dictate policy,” he said. “In this case, the judge is going to make the decision, not anybody else.”

Asked about Trump’s tweets and the Clinton-Lynch uproar, he said, “The president has First Amendment rights, too.”

Quote
“I don’t know the facts of the case; I haven’t been following it,” said Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.).

https://thenevadaindependent.com/article/culinary-union-condemns-vicious-attacks-by-sanders-supporters-after-receiving-hostile-calls-emails-tweets
Quote
The politically powerful Culinary Union is punching back at supporters of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who have lashed out at the union after it began distributing a one-pager to members warning that the Democratic presidential hopeful would “end Culinary Healthcare” if elected president.

Culinary Union Secretary-Treasurer Geoconda Arguello-Kline said in a statement Wednesday that Sanders supporters have “viciously attacked” the union since it began distributing a one-pager to union members that takes specific aim at the Vermont senator over his Medicare-for-all policy.
Quote
Since news of the flyer broke on Tuesday night, the Culinary Union has faced attacks in the form of tweets, phone calls and emails, a union spokeswoman said.

On Twitter, the union has been derided, among other things, as “corrupt,” “incompetent” and “operating in bad faith.” The spokeswoman said the content of the phone calls and emails has largely been the same.

Should have quoted this one to make me look brilliant:
They're already preparing the ground. There have been tens of articles pointing out that the "moderates" are winning a majority of the vote in Iowa and NH. And winning big over just Sanders' cult.

Si trump and fox are going around trying to impress the primary Republican vote because it's double Obama's 2012.

Did Obama go out and do campaign  rallies during reelection?

Such a pathetic attempt at a W over Obama.

My support for Klobmentum is in no shape or form based on the fact that „Klo“ is a colloquial term for toilet in German.
I support her because of her thoughtful policies not because I have the maturity level  of a 12 year old.
