Making america great again means rolling back factory work to the days of Upton Sinclair.

Quote
It also epitomizes the global economy’s race to the bottom. Parts suppliers in the American South compete for low-margin orders against suppliers in Mexico and Asia. They promise delivery schedules they can’t possibly meet and face ruinous penalties if they fall short. Employees work ungodly hours, six or seven days a week, for months on end. Pay is low, turnover is high, training is scant, and safety is an afterthought, usually after someone is badly hurt. Many of the same woes that typify work conditions at contract manufacturers across Asia now bedevil parts plants in the South.

I feel like the afterglow housing crash taught some CEOs some lessons, namely that people really will do the work of two or three people, so go ahead and fire people and pile the work on.

Lmao at Spicer saying the reason the vote got cancelled yesterday was because they realized it'd take all night and they didn't want to have it pass and get buried at 2 AM.

 :neogaf :neogaf :neogaf

I can't wait to see where Spicer goes after the Trump rule ends. His PR game is unrivaled to none when it comes to spouting out ignorant bullshit that people somehow actually believe

The reports are that Paul Ryan "pleaded" for Trump to not go through with the vote. Trump wanted the vote to go through, even though it definitely would have failed.

Paul Ryan doesn't:

Sad.

If this isn't proof that the Republican party is essentially broken, possibly beyond repair, I don't know what is. They control the House. They control the Senate. They control the White House. And yet they still cannot do the one thing that they've been promising to their base for SEVEN YEARS.

Helps when your base(and a large part of the American electorate) blindly allows themselves to latch onto that false promise of "repealing and replacing the ACA with something better" because they were never interested in asking the simple question: How?

Wonder how he accomplished this. Trump and Ryan hate each other and Trump usually listens to Breitbart and Bannon before Ryan. Wonder if he is starting to distrust Bannon (even if Bannom also had a direct phone line to Ryan). His plan of blaming democrats seems to depend that his party still has goodwillon him.

I feel like the way the current republican party is using Lincoln's image, is similar to how the nazi's co-opted the ancient Hindu symbol.

Is Lincoln a religious symbol or figure? That is news for me...

Is that a photo of Mar a Lago?  I see the Florida state flag.

Are these people capable of not being tacky?

The south has always held this desperate fascination with British and French aristocracy.  They've emulated their customs and architecture to the point of parody.  It goes all the way back to colonial times.

It wasn't uncommon for the Emancipators to be perceived in a religious manner, even General Sherman was dubbed the American Aaron / Moses.

People don't remember ol' Honest Abe for his commitment to tariffs and patronage peddling (neither of which are exactly anathema to the current president), and so we find ourselves here.

Violence erupted at a Make America Great Again rally in Huntington Beach on Saturday after a protester opposed to President Trump allegedly doused a female organizer of the event with pepper spray, sparking a brawl that ended with several arrests.

A group of flag-waving Trump supporters tackled the man with the pepper spray, who was wearing a black mask, and started punching and kicking him, according to witnesses. Several other fights also broke out between demonstrators.

Quote
Travis Guenther, whose wife was also pepper-sprayed, said he was among those who chased the masked man and struck him with a flag that said, "Trump, Make America Great Again."

"I hit him five times with the flag over his head," said Guenther, who yelled at the man as he was detained by law enforcement officials.

Quote
Elsa Aldeguer, a Latina who said she was head of the Latino Coalition of Los Angeles, had her 9-year-old son speak to the crowd.

The child railed against the mainstream media.

"The media only says bad things about Trump. They don't say the good things about Trump," the boy said to an eruption of cheers.

Others said they were proud of their peaceful event and pointed to the group's diversity as proof that they are not racists.

In other protest news that makes me ponder how the fuck my race managed to conquer much of the world:

Quote
Several dozen people assembled outside the White House Saturday to demand an investigation into the unfounded Internet rumor known as “Pizzagate.”

Wearing T-shirts and holding banners defending the conspiracy theory — which falsely linked Hillary Clinton to an alleged child-sex-trafficking ring operating out of a D.C. pizza parlor — protesters took turns climbing onto an elevated stage in Lafayette Square to demand politicians and mainstream news media take their claims seriously.

“I don’t have any doubt that Pizzagate is real,” said Kori Hayes, a corrections officer who drove with his wife and three kids to Washington from Middleburg, Fla., on Friday night for the event. “But nothing is being said about it.

Quote
Neither of those developments dissuaded the 50 or so protesters from demonstrating outside the White House on Saturday.

Hayes called InfoWars “the only place you can get the news nowadays where it’s not opinion,” but said he wasn’t bothered by Jones’s about-face on Pizzagate.

“This paper in my hand is at least enough for an investigation,” the 25-year-old said, holding a flier labeled “Pizzagate/Pedogate” that listed “pedophile code words and symbols” supposedly found at Comet Ping Pong.

Quote
Their three children, ages 9, 5 and 2, each wore shirts saying “I Am Not Pizza #pizzagate.”

“We’ve been watching since the [John] Podesta emails came out on Wikileaks,” Danielle said. “And we just followed it down the rabbit hole.”
