I can't help but chuckle at the opioid crisis being such a perfect example of the lack of empathy many white people have for people who don't look like them. I don't remember any of this compassion or initiative when crack hit inner cities. Instead people, specifically black men, were hit with mandatory minimums and draconian police tactics. Now we have politicians demanding billions of dollars to help these poor white people deal with drug addiction, get jobs, etc.
