edit: I got curious and looked up the most recent report on homelessness in Sweden and damn we have a generous definition
like "renting apartment second hand" generous
so the rate of "acute homelessness" aka "does not have home and lives in car/tent" was less than half
for the US I looked on wikipedia, and the US includes "home instability from hardship and/or domestic violence" in their definition which is similarly generous
anyway I was looking for numbers and the numbers I got was 34,000 / 10,000,000 = 0.34% homeless Sweden as of 2017(most generous available definition), 1,593,150 / 323,000,000 = 0.49% homeless USA as of 2010(most generous available definition)
granted, Obama could have fixed all that in the intervening time
