There is no individual identity. Jim Crow has an antiquated idea of a return to a separated "better" past. IP has no better past. In IP, there is only a better future and the now and the past are both irredeemable. Yet even the future is not fully redeemable.

Very relevant to all the identity politics this place loves to debate and discuss. Especially considering how much people want to attribute the phenomenon to one side they have particular disdain or fascination with. Turns out that after conducting and analyzing hundreds of studies, people writ large are incredibly tribal and identity politics(as defined in the way I put forth) is basically just politics for most of the population. That could be disconcerting or rationalized in some logical ways, but it seems to be pretty well founded based on the evidence we have.

The overall gay marriage enterprise achieved its goal. It had to try various tactics. When a tactic didn't work, it moved to a new one. It acheives marriage for gay couples.
