In all the hoopla, this also happened today:

https://twitter.com/washingtonpost/status/985945079356502017

Guess Trump felt he reached the upper limit on mean things he was willing to risk being viewed as complicit in towards Russia. Gotta put a stop to harming his boys like Rybolovlev any more... After all, those coastal tear downs don't sell themselves for 30 million over market prices.

Someone brought up the fact that Michael Cohen put himself in a position to be in front of a judge under oath before even being indicted, which brings home how desperate he must be.

The Hannity thing made for some great radio on the drive home today.  He would blubber on, trying to talk about other stuff or defend himself, and then the local news would come on and go "Sean Hannity -YES, THE PERSON YOU WERE JUST LISTENING TO- was revealed as the third client of Cohen's today.  Traffic in a moment.  Now back to Hannity, AGAIN THE PERSON WHO WAS JUST NAMED AS COHEN'S CLIENT.  THE GUY YOU ARE LISTENING TO.:lol :lol :lol

Hannity's ratings are going to be FIRE tonight, tho, so who is really the winner and the loser in this situation?
The real loser is some fox news lawyer whose job it is to suss out what Hannity's real connection to Cohen is.

Imagine what a big deal it would be that Hannity had been talking about the Cohen raid without disclosing this, if anyone had any ethical expectations at all for him.

Yes, the name of a major media figure coming out during a federal court hearing involving a porn star, the president, and Russia is boring guys.

Yawn. Call me when someone like Ezra Klein makes some passive aggressive comments at some anti-SJW. Now THAT'S  a scandal worth covering!

Before this is all said and done it will probably be easier to just list out the few people the Trump administration appointed, or were appointed through people they appointed, that weren't grifters.

Wasn't he appointed by Obama?

I was waiting for that and almost edited, yes, but only because you have to appoint a Republican vacancy with another Republican on the board. You can't have more than three members on the board of the same party. So basically to get that person you have to bend to the will of what the opposition party wants if they are in the majority of congress. Trump Took Ajit and appointed him FCC chair and appointed another Republican to fill his vacancy. Shifting the bend of the FCC to Ajit Pai and Republicans.

"While no substantive review is being yet allowed, Team Cohen will have to work with–and rely upon–the prosecution as the number of documents and potential privilege issues are worked through. Effectively, this means government agents do get their hands on the documents “first”–but will have to provide them to Cohen’s attorneys on a rolling basis and essentially work in tandem with Cohen’s team to determine the final form of privilege review–which is shaping up to be some combination of “taint team” and special master."

And this is going to be the basis of multiple delays. I don't see this as a loss for Trump at all. Certainly not a win, but not a loss either. I don't understand the celebration, but granted I am legally inept.

Wood allowed the Cohen team to be involved, or at least is going to introduce the potential of an impartial attorney to review documents between teams. The amount of delays and disagreements that can come from Cohen/Trump's legal team just based on the agreement of who that lawyer *is* would potentially be staggering. Let alone the amount of delays that can be created in objecting to every single document introduced.

The Supreme Court just handed the Trump administration a loss on immigration — and Gorsuch was the tiebreaking vote

Quote
The Supreme Court said Tuesday that part of a federal law that makes it easier to deport immigrants who have been convicted of crimes is too vague to be enforced.

The court's 5-4 decision — an unusual alignment in which new Justice Neil Gorsuch joined the four liberal justices — concerns a catchall provision of immigration law that defines what makes a crime violent. Conviction for a crime of violence makes deportation "a virtual certainty" for an immigrant, no matter how long he has lived in the United States, Justice Elena Kagan wrote in her opinion for the court.

NK has wanted to normalize their relationship w/ the South for a long time, formally ending the war is obviously a part of that.

But I just can't imagine them de-nuclearizing.

What exactly is that strategy we should credit to Trump though? Inflammatory tweets? I don't think its just Trump derangement, but I really don't see much of Trump's fingerprints on anything notable? Most things seem to be either developing around America(South Korea talking to the North, despite our objections at times, and China finally reaching the wall where they have no real wiggle room on sanction obfuscation), or are a continuation of the multilateral deterrent strategy that has been largely passed on from administration to administration.

The goal has always been a non-nuclear NK. Which seems to have entirely failed. They have nukes, they have improved their delivery capabilities pretty close to where their goals have seemed to be.

A victory to me would be diplomatic talks leading to a de-nuculearized North Korea. And I guess I'm skeptical of North Korea agreeing to anything but the most superficial of concessions?

Just imagine you're the leader of North Korea, playing cat and mouse with the Americans for 3 generations.

You threaten the US with nukes (as you've always done) to get some food aid or economic help or whatever.
Donald John Trump would have none of it. In fact he sends an armada your way to play war games and threatens to destroy you with fire and fury.
You continue the war of words and say you have a button. Only to hear that Trump has a bigger button and he will press it. He doesn't fucking care.
Also he triples and quadruples the sanctions because you offended him.

So you start asking around in the back channels. WTF just happened. And you discover that half of the state department has been dismantled and there is no ambassador to talk to.
All the diplomats from say Switzerland, Japan or Germany that you do speak look at you, shrug and say: "Dunno man, he'll probably nuke your ass, or not"

Trump was asked how he would deal negotiating with a madman and his response was: "That's Kim's problem not mine"

The madman theory but the madman is actually a raving lunatic.

NK may have calculated that playing nice while Trump is president is their best bet to not get bombed to shit.
They might also think that Trump doesn't care about the human rights violations as long as he gets his 'win'.

I can almost guarantee that this is the case. Note that when N Korea announced its willingness to resume negotiations, they basically dusted off the 1992 negotiations that ultimately failed and said “hey let’s start from there”.

That said, there’s probably a lot of reasons for North Korea to make peace too, and maybe lil Kim can see it where his dad could not, so who knows.
