why is reparations framed for slavery anyways? Most modern black reparations supporters argue it from the viewpoint of slavery + jim crow + government oppression. The amount of obstacles created by the united states towards black people is simply unparalleled in the country aside from natives. But natives have received reparations. Japanese had reparations. Jews had reparations for the holocaust and the holocaust didn't even happen on our shores. Reparations is about systemic, generational oppression. COINTELPRO, segregation, lynchings, green books. Shit, slavery is the cherry on top.
So why are they asking about reparations for slavery? Nah.
