I'm baffled there aren't already more candidates, one of the front runners can't come back in the country :lol

The Abramson guy who just got in last month or so is a super pro-life guy which doesn't fly in The Party anymore.

You don't have to actually do anything like the real parties, Adam Kokesh is the only one actually spending money and he's spent $182,000 over his five year long bid. A lot of which I think has to do with his "media empire" more than actual traditional campaign type spending.

Quote
Vohra drew flak in 2017 for calling public schools "welfare for the middle class", referring to military veterans as "paid killers", public school teachers as "supervisors of indoctrination camps",[5] and in April 2018, for joking about violence against school board members.[6]

In defense of his view that individuals and families, rather than the state, should determine readiness for marriage and procreation, he stated, "Statists insist that there is some magical age at which every single person on earth is ready to give sexual consent, and seem unbothered by the fact that in America, this age varies from state to state. Logically, either that means: 1. There is not actually a magical age 2. Some states have set the age too high, and are prosecuting people unjustly 3.Some ages have set the age too low, and are failing to protect kids 4.Human nature somehow varies from one state to another."[7][8] The Libertarian Youth Caucus called for Vohra's resignation.[9] Multiple state Libertarian Party chapters demanded Vohra be relieved from his position, including the Libertarian Parties of Alaska, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Wisconsin.[8] When asked if he personally would have sex with a 14-year-old, Vohra responded, "Probably not, but that's not the point. My personal life choices are mine, and I don't believe in forcing them on others."[10]
Quote
On February 2, 2018, members of the LNC voted on whether or not to suspend Vohra from his position. The vote failed a two-thirds majority, and in response, prominent Libertarian activist Larry Sharpe resigned from his position in the Committee as Region 8 Alternate.[11]
Quote
In April 2018, a new motion to suspend Vohra was brought to the LNC, prompted by new comments by Vohra: "Bad idea: school shootings. Good idea: school board shootings." Vohra dismissed the comments as a joke, and apologized on Facebook.[13][14] The motion failed in a deciding vote by Nicholas Sarwark.[15]

In June 2018, he drew criticism for appearing on the podcast of far-right anarchist and white nationalist Christopher Cantwell. In defense of this appearance, Vohra stated; "I'll take a racist who opposes government schools over a public school teacher who endorses them any day. If I have to pick between racism and welfarism, I'll pick racism in a second."[16]

On July 3, 2018, Vohra lost his re-election bid to be vice-chair of the LP to Alex Merced. However, on the same day, he announced that he will seek the Libertarian Party's nomination for president in 2020.[17][18]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Cantwell
Quote
Cantwell was a member of Free Keene, a voluntaryist protest group associated with the Free State Project. He and some other members objected to some actions of the government of Keene, New Hampshire which they considered to be examples of government over-involvement, such as issuing parking tickets. They filmed themselves harassing parking enforcement officers and paying parking meters ahead of the officers, and uploaded many of their clips to YouTube. In 2014, Cantwell was one of three members of this "Free Keene Squad" who were featured in a mocking segment on The Colbert Report which documented their activities, lampooning them as "brave patriots [who] are fighting back… against government overreach" by harassing meter maids.[25][49]

On April 9, 2019, Cantwell published a blog post announcing that he had been "neglecting to deal with some serious personal problems for a very long time", and that he needed to "stop, avoid recording devices, and pull [himself] together."[50][51] Cantwell told the Southern Poverty Law Center that he had decided to step away from broadcasting because "'Jews' had taken an 'emotional toll' on him."[50]
Quote
Cantwell has described himself as a member of the alt-right, a fascist, and a libertarian.
Quote
By Cantwell's own account, he was originally "radicalized" to libertarianism in 2009 after listening to a presentation by former Libertarian presidential candidate Michael Badnarik.[67] In 2009 he announced he would be running as a Libertarian Party candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in New York's 1st District, but he did not collect enough signatures to get on the ballot.[27] He has been repeatedly kicked out of libertarian organizations for his violent and racist views.[25]

Cantwell has held strong anti-police views, including advocating for violence against police officers. In a June 2012 Facebook post about police hypothetically attempting to pull over a driver, he said, "It is my honest opinion that this driver would be morally justified in shooting that police officer at the moment the [police car's] lights go on." He was later removed from the Free State Project and banned from their events for this and other statements the group found to violate the libertarian non-aggression principle. Cantwell has posted photographs of himself dressed as a police officer who had been shot in the forehead for a 2014 Halloween party, and later that year he applauded the man who killed two police officers in New York City.
Quote
Although Cantwell endorsed Donald Trump for president in January 2016,[71] he has said that he hoped for a leader who was "a lot more racist than Donald Trump" and who "does not give his daughter to a Jew" (referring to Ivanka Trump's marriage to Jared Kushner).[72]

Does being a pedophile make you lean towards Libertarianism, or does being a Libertarian make you lean towards pedophilia? Because the number one topic of discussion with libertarians is always sexual age of consent laws and it's more than a bit sus, bruv   :steiner
Mary Ruwart was on path to defeat Bob Barr and Wayne Allen Root (both of whom have fled back to the GOP after claiming they had seen the light due to Bush, only to be saved by Romney and Trump) because both were not trusted, especially Barr being a pro-drug war/pro-every war/etc. Republican just two years earlier. They managed to derail her campaign (though they still had to unite at the convention) by pulling up an answer she gave:
Quote
An anonymous commenter at the invaluable Third Party Watch posted a series of quotes on child sex allegedly from left-libertarian presidential candidate Mary Ruwart's book Short Answers to the Tough Questions. I've looked through the book, and, yes: This is Ruwart's response to the question "How can a libertarian argue against child pornography?"

Children who willingly participate in sexual acts have the right to make that decision as well, even if it's distasteful to us personally. Some children will make poor choices just as some adults do in smoking and drinking to excess. When we outlaw child pornography, the prices paid for child performers rise, increasing the incentives for parents to use children against their will.
The comment is still up:

I’m back

As a good anarchist, I have been busy evading taxes, shooting up heroin, and having sex with little boys but it is time to promote Mary Ruwart some more.

It looks like George Phillies proved my point that Mary supports having sex with children. Mary writes:

“Children who willingly participate in sexual acts have the right to make that decision as well, even if it’s distasteful to us personally. Some children will make for choice is just as some adults do in smoking and drinking to excess; this is part of life.

What we outlaw child pornography, if the prices paid for child performers rise, increasing the incentives for parents to use children against their will.”

Thank you George. I won’t vote for you because I want the anarchist choice and you are a statist. I want to see Mary Ruwart promoting sex with children on national television. After all, it is the pure libertarian position.

Go child sex. Go anarchy.

Ruwarchy, making the Libertarian Party mainstream!

Ruwarchy rocks!
Quote
Ruwarchy! Says:

Does anybody know any other libertarian things Mary has written? Mary thinks all families will become clans.

“Clans could be very structured, such as those entered into by contracts that specified the duties of each member. Clans could be informal without any legal obligations associated with membership, similar to the “extended family” of today. Eventually a preferred structure might evolve, but variety would likely be maintained to accommodate alternative lifestyles.”

And Mary thinks we should honor the clan lifestyle.

“Libertarians honor all lifestyles. People of one way of life should not be sacrificed to others or ask that others be sacrificed to them.”

And Mary thinks its OK for little kids to be in the free market child porn business.

“What we outlaw child pornography, if the prices paid for child performers rise, increasing the incentives for parents to use children against their will.”

And Mary thinks it is OK for little kids to have sex.

“Children who willingly participate in sexual acts have the right to make that decision as well, even if it’s distasteful to us personally. Some children will make for choice is just as some adults do in smoking and drinking to excess; this is part of life.”

This must mean that Mary like all good anarchists supports the Yearning for Zion Ranch. Lots of kids and sex and stuff. Libertarian purist heaven. We need Mary on national tv defending those poor kids who can’t have sex with their husbands any more.

Does any one have any more stories for Mary to tell on national tv?

Ruwarchy rocks!

It got mainstream coverage like in Time:
The fracas started with Mary J. Ruwart, the candidate with perhaps the deepest, purest libertarian roots (her rejection of government is so complete that some party moderates have begun warning of the anarchical dangers of "Ruwarchy"). In April, a rival called her out for her thoughts in a 1999 book called Short Answers to the Tough Questions. "Children who willingly participate in sexual acts have the right to make that decision as well, even if it's distasteful to us personally," Ruwart wrote. "When we outlaw child pornography, the prices paid for child performers rise, increasing the incentives for parents to use children against their will."

Ruwart's is a classic libertarian take — a defense of free will (even for "child performers") and an attack on government prohibitions of any kind. It's also political poison. As libertarian blogger Steve Newton put it, Ruwart and her allies run the risk of turning the party into "the poster child for NAMBLA and the aluminum hat brigade."

The party's executive director, Shane Cory, saw the danger as well, and rushed out a press release titled, "Libertarians call for increased communication to combat child pornography." Cory was attacked by hardliners who saw the release as an endorsement of increased federal prosecuting power. The party refused to vote on a resolution asking states to strongly enforce existing child porn laws.

I just re-read Bob Barr’s “Issues” page. Nowhere does Bob Barr deny the right to shove a bag of Doritos up his own ass. Not only that, there’s nothing denying his right to shove a bag of Doritos up his children’s ass. When is someone going to clarify Bob Barr’s position on Doritos, and their proper place in America and what the boundaries are? Everybody, please don’t let Sean Hannity find out about this.

It’s things like Doritos that are proof to anyone that is serious about being a real political party that if we don’t have a clear position on Doritos in our platform, people will use that against us. If the Libertarian Party won’t put a Dorito plank in its platform, then I might quit.

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/08/03/michael-avenatti-is-mulling-a-2020-run-for-president-again.html
Quote
The firebrand attorney Michael Avenatti is back considering a run for the Democratic nomination for president after he declared last year he wouldn’t take part in the contest.

Avenatti, who in the past represented porn star Stormy Daniels against the likes of President Donald Trump and his then fixer Michael Cohen, told CNBC late on Friday that he is yet again contemplating entering the expansive 2020 arena.

“Never say never,” he said when asked if he’s going to get into the race. “The Dems need a non-traditional fighter. They have a lot of talent but not a lot of fighters.” He later noted that the odds of him getting into the race are at 50/50 and he could make his decision in a few months.

“I don’t think I need to make a final decision for a number of months. I have the name ID and everyone knows I’m one of the few effective fighters that the Dems have,” he said.
Quote
As he’s watched the almost two dozen candidates square off in the primary debates, Avenatti says he continues to believe Democrats don’t have the fighter that can take on Trump come the general election and suggested he could be the candidate to beat him.

“I am increasingly concerned that the Dems don’t have the right fighter to go toe to toe with Trump,” he said. “And the future of the republic and our way of life is on the line. He is a brawler who has no bounds. The Dems need a guy who can match him punch for punch. I may be that guy.”

I suspect the most important part in that Avenatti article is the following...

Quote
At the time, he was raising money for a potential 2020 campaign through his own political action committee, The Fight PAC. Data collected by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics shows that the committee spent $25,000 on Break Something LLC, a major Democratic consulting firm. It also invested $13,000 on plane flights and more than $5,000 on hotels. The PAC is still active and has raised over $20,000 so far this cycle, according to its latest Federal Election Commission filing. It currently has $3,540 on hand.
