My pessimistic take is that it's what curly said but there is also a Schmittian streak to Bern politics where anyone who is not of the Bern is an enemy. They're correct to recognize that the process has lots of little holes for entrenched interests to exert influence but that streak can get in the way of dry, boring reading about the rules that only wonks truly enjoy.

The DNC is a synecdoche for The Establishment. "Superdelegates" works the same way.

Bernie's fans generally share the belief that his political program is very, very popular, so if he loses an election it's because of some jiggery pokery by powerful enemies*. I find that assumption of underlying popular support to be really interesting.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
*Hypothetically it could also be explained by Sanders not running a flawless campaign but I wouldn't suggest bringing this up.

I actually think that there is very little correlation between the popularity of a politicians signature positions and their popularity as a President.

Obama is a popular political figure, but doesn’t really have any particularly popular policy positions. His signature accomplishment, the ACA barely cracked 40% approval during his Presidency. Now it hovers around 50% but didn’t get there ironically until after a Trump was elected. (I suspect this is one of the reasons R’s thought repealing it would be a political win but I don’t think they understood that some of of the opposition is coming from the left as well)

Two complicating factors: Obama was an unpopular president for long stretches of his time in office and most of the major components of the ACA polled much better than "Obamacare" did.

This has been the media MO for every politician but Trump, being a reality TV personality, loves playing into it.

That’s kind of what I was getting at. 80% of people might approve of The Preexisting conditions clause (or Single Payer) but don’t approved of Obamacare (or Medicare for all) and then a different number might
Approve of candidates that espouse those ideas. Someone can theoretically approve of Medicare for all but vote for Biden because “it’s more realistic” or “we need someone that can beast Trump”

I’d like to say it’s because voters are picking up on some nuance to the different laws... but let’s be realistic, they are large not.

I would be curious to see how Obamacare approval and Obama correlate.

He is the last surviving coherent politician in America. He’s kind of like the last person ever born in Children of Men that dies at the beginning. Even though he was kind of a piece of shit, he’s still notable for that alone.

Why should anyone care what Dronbama thinks?

Outside of the insular bubble that is online political discourse. He is rather well-liked, and still liked and it should be obvious that he is the only reason Biden is where he is in the polls.

I have to preface my opinion by being fair and stating I rated Lele Pons feet as beautiful. They do it for me. But looking at Tulsi's feet proves to me how much of a thin line Lele is from just being "ok". Lele's feet work for me because I love plump big toes, despite the fact that hers look kind of caveman-ish. Her nails are short their natural color is good she has a good toe taper and complexion. When I see Tulsi's feet I think.."damn..they look like if Lele's feet got hit with a mallet". Her big toes aren't plump enough. They look squashed and her foot structure just looks clunky. Anyway, I'd give her a solid "ok".

Trump is a snek.  I don't know why he has any loyalists at all since his history shows he cannot be trusted, even with his shady allies like Rudy. He backstabs them all.

The fact that he's survived so long like this is definitely some crazy superpower.

Yes please. It got old long ago.

I wish the ignore feature of this forum offered more options; I would like to block Nintex in political threads only, instead I have to block him everywhere. I now only click on his posts on this side of the forum if people other than filler like them.
Sorry Nintex, but what else did you assume would happen if you posted hundreds of Trump tweets?

Unless you are a very slow reader, that's not really an option. It's either constant exposure to Trump's brainfarts/Trump fanfiction or the ignore list.
