Former South Bend, Ind., mayor Pete Buttigieg is the youngest Democratic presidential candidate; Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is the oldest (roughly double Buttigieg’s age). Buttigieg consistently demonstrates a mature understanding of how one unites a party and builds a winning general-election coalition. Sanders seems clueless.

Appearing at a Fox News town hall on Sunday, Buttigieg told the audience that “we can send a message to people who are telling us that we have to choose between our head and our heart, that we have to choose between what it takes to govern and what it takes to win, or that we have to choose between unity and boldness in this country." While he has defended himself against attacks from Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and against the argument that he lacks age and maturity, Buttigieg has rarely gone negative on any opponent. That is extraordinary in a primary as close and competitive as this one. He understands at the end of the process, the bare minimum he must do is unite the party before turning to every persuadable voter.

The polar opposite of this is Sanders and his fleet of Bernie Bros who slash and burn, attack and smear other Democrats. The New York Times reports on Sanders’s swarm of online supporters, who have waged vicious and personal attacks on his critics, often focusing on feminist women. “Some progressive activists who declined to back Mr. Sanders have begun traveling with private security after incurring online harassment. Several well-known feminist writers said they had received death threats,” the Times explains. “A state party chairwoman changed her phone number. A Portland lawyer saw her business rating tumble on an online review site after tussling with Sanders supporters on Twitter.”

Sanders’s own behavior sets the tone and belies the notion that he is not responsible for the most divisive campaign in the primary. His team’s baseless claim (for which he had to apologize) that former vice president Joe Biden is corrupt was positively Trumpian. The out-of-context clip that Sanders distributed on social media falsely suggesting Biden favored Social Security cuts was slapped down by fact-checkers, but Sanders continued to insist that Biden supported cuts.

Sanders’s holier-than-thou ethos often manifests itself in refusal to answer ordinary, utterly appropriate questions. When asked how much his extravagant plans cost, he insisted, “You don’t know, nobody knows, this is impossible.” The Trump camp must be licking its chops, waiting for a candidate who thinks it is beneath him to answer such essential queries.

Sanders’s campaign, like all primary campaigns, is a preview of the general-election race and, if elected, the administration he would lead. A nominee who insists on personally attacking all doubters and the media might be a model for the Republican Party, but Democrats are not going to win with their own Donald Trump, especially one who has burned bridges and stirred resentment in his own party.

“Politics is a contact sport,” said Bakari Sellers, a former South Carolina State legislator who supported Ms. Harris in the Democratic primary. “But you have to be very cognizant when you say anything critical of Bernie online. You might have to put your phone down. There’s going to be a blowback, and it could be sexist, racist and vile.”

In recent days, he said, one man sent a profanity-filled private message on Instagram, calling Mr. Sellers, who is black, an “Uncle Tom” and wishing him brain cancer.

When Mr. Sanders’s supporters swarm someone online, they often find multiple access points to that person’s life, compiling what can amount to investigative dossiers. They will attack all public social media accounts, posting personal insults that might flow in by the hundreds. Some of the missives are direct threats of violence, which can be reported to Twitter or Facebook and taken down.

More commonly, there is a barrage of jabs and threats sometimes framed as jokes. If the target is a woman, and it often is, these insults can veer toward her physical appearance.

For some perceived Sanders critics, there has been mail sent to home addresses — or the home addresses of relatives. The contents were unremarkable: news articles about the political perils of centrism. The message seemed clear: We know where you live.

That is precisely what some Democrats fear. As the 2016 primary grew increasingly fractious, Mr. Sanders’s campaign found a drawback to such fervor: the online bullying among some supporters.

Sady Doyle, a progressive feminist author and Sanders critic who has been the subject of his followers’ ire, recalled one message she received from a stranger: “If you ever have a child, I’m going to dash it on the walls of Troy.” She said her husband asked her not to attend protests alone while pregnant.

Maya Contreras, a graduate student and co-founder of a feminist think tank who has criticized Mr. Sanders on Twitter, recalled a deluge in the lead-up to the 2016 election. “I got messages saying ‘go back to where you came from’ — which is Denver, Colorado, where I was born,” she said.

“Someone tweeted and said ‘You better watch where you’re going or something’s going to happen to you,’” Ms. Contreras added. “I also got ‘die bitch.’”

A May 2016 fight over delegates in Nevada included reports of thrown chairs, which some Sanders supporters dispute, and threats against the state party chairwoman, Roberta Lange, who changed her phone number after receiving a torrent of menacing messages about her, her grandchild and other relatives.

Former Senator Barbara Boxer of California, a Clinton supporter who had been at the Nevada convention, said she worried for her safety after being booed offstage.

This just underscores the necessity of nominating Amy.

They're mostly scared like most other politicians are at the ways Trump is actually changing things and how little they can do to stop him.
Obama never used the full spectrum of Presidential powers available to him. He was more careful in his approach. Trump just spends billions on pet projects like Space Force and goes around strong arming poorer countries like Mexico, Ukraine and Iran.

They want Biden, so he can 'undo' the damage Trump did and return things back to 'normal'. "Don't take a risk"
Sanders could, like Trump, potentially change a lot of things. He wouldn't start Space Force but he sure as hell would immediately call up the likes of Amazon and Silicon Valley tech companies Putin style to at least get the taxes owed and stop them from shipping jobs overseas. Trump has pretty much accepted that migration of highly educated tech workers is beneficial to the US and most importantly a loss to other countries. Trump wants to get out of the Middle East but he doesn't want to lose, so he's stuck there. I don't think Sanders will drop his principles that easily considering how long he has had those ideals. For better for worse Trump is no ideologue so as long as it 'makes america great again' or you can convince him it does, you could get away with pretty much anything.

This impeachment 'sham' did not only show that the President is not guilty. In fact, the President was right to investigate the Biden's for corruption in Ukraine. 

Bolton's book roll-out was too obvious as the pre-orders opened the moment he leaked about Ukraine and Mulvaney shot that down almost immediately saying Bolton was wrong.
Prompting Bolton's people to say they didn't actually participate or condone leaking the draft to the NYT.

I thought from the beginning that was the mistake the Democrats made. By making this only about Ukraine and the dealings with Zelensky and not a wide range of issues related to Trump and foreign policy mishaps and possible shady deals.
The Trump defense team, without blinking threw out a bunch of completely unrelated things like Obama not being tough on Russia in a debate with Romney, Obama stopping the construction of Bush's Missile shield in Poland
and Hunter Biden getting hired by a gas company because his dad wanted a prosecutor fired. Seemingly creating the image that Obama and Biden have been doing all these corrupt and shady deals while in office against the interests of the US.

They completely disregard the fact that the Europeans weren't exactly thrilled to have such a missile shield trying to pretend it was to keep out Iranian missiles and it was dropped more or less because everyone agreed it wouldn't be very effective and there was an economic crisis going on. But no one remembers that (and only 1% in the US knows where Poland is on a map) so everyone will get the message that Obama didn't defend Europe against Russian missiles and aggression as he didn't defend the US against election interference because really it is Obama who is working for the Russians but actually it's not the Russians but Ukraine that were guilty of the bad things after all. Get it?

The Team Trump argument is really not that Trump didn't do anything wrong, but impeachment itself shouldn't be a thing that is allowed to happen

Two things stuck out to me about the GOP arguments tonight.

1) one of the lawyers said that the impeachment articles did not even allege a crime, and thus this wasn’t a valid impeachment, then that same lawyer, in the same speech read a passage from the impeachment articles that said something about this being a crime.

2) Ultimately, they seem to be saying this is not a valid impeachment because it doesn’t allege a violation of US criminal code. This is effectively saying that Congress and the courts have literally no power over the President as long as he doesn’t violate A criminal law. He can violate regulations and laws passed by Congress with impunity, with no recourse as long as he can find somebody to do it for him. That’s an insane point of view.
