I hope that does get more attention so Senator Hendon can make sure his next in-booth voter guide doesn't list the same number for two different offices. ("Punch #111")

Tulsi was finishing 5th-7th on Super Tuesday, behind candidates who'd already dropped out. In her defense (I guess?) she hadn't really been campaigning either.

I don't get the logic of Tulsi still being in it. She says she'll stay in till the Convention but like, why?

“I think the conversation is going to quickly turn to how and when does Bernie Sanders unite the Democratic Party,” McCaskill said on MSNBC. “I do think the pressure is going to mount, especially at this time of crisis in this country, for the Democrats to unite behind clearly the voters’ preference.”
I think the only thing that any single person could do that would actually be potentially unifying is for Biden to say what's been unspoken and that's commit to a single term (outside of potentially obvious exceptions) which I think would kill what's left of Bernie's campaign outreach to non-hardcores.

I know they probably think they're saving it for against Trump or whatever but I think it would do more before then, if Trump wins it leaves 2024 open anyway.

I think a campaign message echoing Polk's one-term pledge focused on a few issues would be very attractive: "We've got these four or five issues, gonna bang em out finally and leave things for the next generation." There's plenty in both that message and historical reference to be wonderfully cynical about but I'm not talking about appealing to politicos or unpleasant people like me.

Regarding Bernie I don't think he has a "move" that would be really "unifying" before the convention.

I think it's just a way to keep building her name. As long as she stays in, they still have to mention her name.

It's not like she's burning through money. She has spent 6.8m and still has 2m in hand.

Trump has altered his stated positions to fit the party more than vice versa.

That’s because he doesn’t care about policy most of the time and is also sort of dumb and easily flattered.

But when he puts his foot down the party twists themselves into knots to justify it.

And he has found plenty of times where he fully adopts Obama’s policies and the GOP follows along, like locking up kids in cages, for example.

As the US Senate prepares to pass a bill to help fund and speed up the response to coronavirus epidemic, Kentucky senator Rand Paul has introduced an amendment that will slow down the bill’s passage – even though the amendment has no chance of passing.

The bill being debated, which would provide free coronavirus testing and provisions for unemployment insurance and paid sick leave, has already been passed by the House of Representatives. While some Senators have voiced misgivings about it, with some saying it does not go far enough, the bill looks very likely to pass without dramatic alterations.

Mr Paul’s amendment, however, has no bearing on the substance on the substance of the bill. Instead, it would “require a social security number for purposes of the child tax credit, and to provide the President the authority to transfer funds as necessary, and to terminate United States military operations and reconstruction activities in Afghanistan.”

Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell, the other senator from Kentucky, has agreed to take up the amendment on Wednesday. It is not expected to pass, but by debating it, the Senate will slow down the overall bill’s passage.

This "China Virus" thing is one big distinguished mentally-challenged fellow Test by Trump to get people fighting in the culture war to pull the attention off his incompetence.  Now, instead of his base shrugging their shoulders and nervously kneading their feet in the sand when you give them concrete examples of his incompetence and the consequences thereafter, we have to pivot to an unwinnable and infinite argument about racism.   What he's doing is wrong, but it can't be the priority right now.

The bill also includes provisions that

establish a federal emergency paid leave benefits program to provide payments to employees taking unpaid leave due to the coronavirus outbreak,

require employers to provide paid sick leave to employees,

Bill was sponsored by a Democrat and included those provisions in it. Seemed unlikely to pass the Senate.

Im old enough to remember that fucking George W Bush did the same thing.

Quote
A stimulus rebate check was mailed out to 130 million taxpayers, in amounts as follows:

Individuals would receive up to $600.
Married couples would get up to $1,200.
Those with children would be sent $300 per dependent child.

https://www.thebalance.com/bush-economic-stimulus-package-3305782

Not only that, but Im old enough to remember he did it in his first term too!

Quote
Bush signed the $1.35 trillion tax cut -- which includes soon-to-be-mailed rebate checks of up to $600 -- amid the kind of presidential pomp he usually disdains: a formal ceremony in the East Room, with a Marine band playing "Hail to the Chief."

...

Bush was surrounded by Republicans who have long argued for such a cut, and by conservative Democrats, such as Sens. John Breaux of Louisiana and Zell Miller of Georgia, who made it possible.

...

For Republicans, the most politically beneficial moment may come this summer, when most of those who paid income taxes for last year begin to receive their rebate checks: up to $300 for single filers, $500 for single parents and $600 for joint filers.

Republicans have always been about bleeding the government dry.

Democrats played like a fucking fiddle, again.

My fellow Americans, today I spoke with Mr Sony and Phil Xbox.
I'm pleased to announce that at my request they've both decided to drop their new console at the low price of 499 US dollars.
Which means that with the stimulus bill passed by Congress gamers can buy the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X at the end of the year.
Furthermore this leaves room in their budget to purchase DOOM, Animal Crossing and Cyberpunk 2077, although that last one might release after my re-election.

The Trump administration is with you, we will fight for your highscores and your right to enjoy entertainment without micro-transactions.
Also we've bailed out E3 and the federal government is doing everything in their power to make sure E3 2021 is attended by all big publishers.
If Sony does not attend E3 2021 and show off great new products then we will impose a 10% tariff on all PlayStation products.

Gamers should know that we are with you, we support you and we love you.

Gamers Rise Up!

Amendment proposed by Ron Johnson to remove the (limited) paid sick and family leave provisions from the House bill. Failed 50-48.

Manchin and Sinema both voted for the Murray amendment and for this one. I have no even speculative explanation why.
