MGSV has one of the most open-ended, yet buttery smooth controls in a game and a level design that encourages it.

 I played through all the sideops/main missions in MGSV and in every single op I was experimenting with some type of tactic/weapon.

 Fluid gameplay that looks smooth and has no awkward animation cycles

The mission-to-mission gameplay was so amazing... extremely fluid, responsive controls. Level design that allowed for tons of experimentation in play style and optional objectives.

Unfortunately, there was so much shit around the rest of it... the large, open areas between the missions with nothing going on. The mobullshit style time-based weapons research and Mother Base building. And of course the story totally falling apart along with repeating missions in the second half. The game should have ended after the first fight with Sahalanthropus.
