I’m divided on it. I think it set an awkward tone for sure. Tasteless? Ehhh, kind of. Hammering her arm was extremely brutal. It wasn’t in slow motion but it was still slow and deliberate, everything else stopped and focused on it. Only about 7-10 seconds but it was grueling for sure. Still, for a zombie apocalypse/horror game it fits fine.
For me the lack of appeal is more about zombie/post apocalyptic settings in general. It’s so incredibly overdone and run into the ground over the past decade between movies, tv, books and games. I’m completely burned out, and “the real danger are the other survivors” is just as stale.
