Who doesn't remember hard hitting exclusives like Star Fox Guard.

Still, the PS5 has 500% more exclusive games than the Xbox Series S|X

Wii U was just an early access Switch
Nintendo will probably make it disappear like Super Mario Galaxy 2 and

Wii U is excellent...   :ufup After 4+ years, it still has more Zelda's and Metroids than the Spitch.

And for Dunkey, him going on about the lack of story for a R&C game ...  Could've torn it apart with the amount graphical glitches it has (way more than I expected), but went nowhere with his berating of "a story" :doge

That's what I'm surprised about.. 2 buddies of mine are playing it and they both experienced these glitches... Well, not glitches necessarily, but more unpolished than you'd expect from Insomniac..

David Jaffe (remember him???) was playing it and said it was buggier than he expected something that big (AAA first party game) to be. Nothing game breaking but way less polish than was normal.

I talked about how easy it is to break in the PS5 thread. I imagine the ammount of stuff they overlooked would make it a pretty fun game to speedrun.

Jaffe is such an interesting guy.  Sometimes I find his takes confusing, and on occasion I get frustrated with his severe ADD during his interviews on his YouTube channel, but he’ll always be a legend because of Twisted Metal and God of War.  Plus, he was calling out Jason Schreeeeier on his bullshit long before anyone else, so that’s another positive.

Whats wrong with Jason Schreier?

He’s toxic towards others which don’t agree in lockstep with him, which then gets amplified because he has a subset of sycophants (thankfully growing smaller over time) who lionize him for that shit.  Jason Schreier is a prime example of bad actors within the enthusiast press that, no matter how tenuous the connection, will evoke gamergate as a shield against any criticism or examination of his shitty actions and behaviors.

He’s also a massive gaping cunt of a hypocrite, having posted about how he was leaving Kotaku because of corporate control over their “journalism”, only to go and land at fucking Bloomberg.

That's only hypocritical if Bloomberg meddles the way G/O Media tried to with Deadspin (and maybe with Kotaku) and if he knew that going in. (I was actually surprised by how many people at Kotaku walked out in the end.)

Don't know what it was like during the pre-crash/crash days but NES games were usually $45 to $50... Master System and Genesis RPGs (Phantasy Star especially) were a bit more money due to ROM sizes. I remember PSIV being sold for $110 back in the day! SNES games tended to be a bit higher on average than Genesis games (I believe due to the fact a lot of SNES games had add on DSPs and other chips), $60 to $70, with more for RPGs (FF6 I remember buying for $80). Some of the smaller ROM size NES/SNES games were cheaper, Mystic Quest I remember retailing for $40.

The PS1 era was the one that really standardized the $50 video game, with some exceptions (the $20 Greatest Hits lineup, some other budget titles like Spec Ops on the low end, with the WD collectors editions on the high end).

I remember some games being $80 or more during the early 90s. Might have been local pricing or store-specific pricing rather than MSRP, though.

Genesis games were definitely $70+ as stated due to cartridge size. There was a whole big deal about I think Strider being THE FIRST 8 MEG GAME.

In my neck of the woods, I remember most Genesis games were straight $50 regardless of MB size; Strider, PSIV, even that obscure space ship or tank game that was around 12MB, iirc.. wish I could remember the name of it Ha!  Found it!... And realized I was suckered back then!  :lol  Star Control! The box says "12 megabit game".. which obviously translates to 1.5MB.  But my pre-teen self didn't know shit other than 12 is larger than 8, so the game must be HUGE.  lmao

I do remember SNES games varying in price though.  Seeing FFIII(6) retailing at $70 blew my mind back then.   I remember thinking, man... that game must be AWESOME!!   :lol  Granted, it was an amazing game back then... If I was Team Nintendo, I would've splurged for it no question.

Most games during the 16-bit era were generally $60-$80 new.  Some of them went as high as $100, like some RPGs and Virtua Racing.  Depended on the store for how much of a price-gouge there was.

When we got the Saturn and Playstation, there was a drop and most games were $50 new.  That was nice.  Noawadays, the prices are just going back up.  :'(

That's weird, cuz I remember looking through toy catalogs and every Genesis and/or Master System game being $49.99 everywhere; Lionel Play World, KB Toys, Service Merchandise, Sears..
I do remember Virtua Racing being high because of the FX chip..

Edit: looking at old toy catalog scans, the prices are higher!  Wtf... Feel like I took crazy pills.. I remember writing prices down on Christmas lists. :lol But yeah, guess the prices would fluctuate way more than I realized.

Only RPG I remember actually buying for Genesis, was PSIV.  I rented it at first from a Blockbuster, because I was skeptical of it after being let down by PSIII… loved it for that weekend and played over 10 hours of it.. had to return it… re-rent the next weekend… data was over written of course, so decided to just go buy it.  Got a ride to the mall to get it and being astonished that the retail box for a new one was still the same cardboard, Nintendo like, crap packaging, and not just a blockbuster thing.  :doge
