As long as it has Kratos fucking the kid in the ass as a real spartan warrior.

But for real, what the fuck does this even have to do with the GoW franchise?

I prefered when the games had like 10 minutes worth of dumb cutscenes instead of making an entire game out of the cringe.

Seems to still have you killing mythical beasts in outrageous ways using magical weapons

Replacing Kratos yelling with him being a dad doesn't really matter to me

The name still has value, but they kinda finished the job in GoW3 and there have been enough prequels, I guess. So here we are, next pantheon on the hit list.

Game's apparently gonna be 25 - 35 hours long.

I was skeptical coming in, but the later combat videos make it look a lot better than E3 2016, so we shall see.

Just hate they're doing a father-child game 4 years after it got played out.

They're pretty fun games if you're not allergic to the genre. If you only had one to try, go for GoW3 on PS3/PS4.

I can't imagine the axe and shield are the only weapons you unlock

They mention ranged abilities and axe mods but it doesn't seem like enough to carry a 25 hr game

probably, every previous entry had at least 4-5 though

Yeah, I’m not entirely seeing the “more depth to the combat” thing from the videos.

Obviously, it was always kind of a button masher, and this might be less of a button masher but that doesn’t automatically mean more depth to me.

Went through some of the spoiler threads on other sites. Apparently the kid doesn't shut the fuck up and comments on everything.

The latest Tomb Raider game managed to do that shit so much that Laura Kraft's patronizing comments became an in-joke in my circle of friends.

Looking forward to hate-play this game.

Same, in a certain way I feel like Sony’s first party games are mostly well-polished stories attached to mediocre games.

Last of us seems to have started this trend.

That game, while good in its own way, does not deserve the level of praise it gets. The actual game was downright barely ok.

Imagine the kid bitching about Kratos being a bad dad and never being there for him and then Kratos acting emotional.

Right now, its 4chan posts with varying spoilers.

One of them being the game is actually 40 hours long just to complete the game  :lol

Would make it 3x times longer than all past games. Don't believe that shit for a second. Not 100%, just beating the game.

Something about Sony’s first party exclusives the last 5 or 6 years all seem off to me. Like really really good production values with a mediocre, derivative game underneath.

I feel like this will have similar issues to Last of Us and Uncharted 4. Good tension and well done cutscenes, and the gameplay is just sort of “there”.

Though I really enjoyed God of War 3... so who knows?

The gameplay of this looks to have more to it than U4 and TLOU...  But that kid...  I dunno....  Ellie was great on TLOU...  I have a daughter and son, so Joel's feels were in tune with mine (therefore making TLOU wholly legit on a personal level for me), but with Kratos...  not sure if I relate to him that much??  lol...  solely based on knowing him from past games...  I dunno... mixed feeling here obviously...  putting too much thought into it...

Now if they throw some Jerry Springer shit in there and find out that the boy's not his real son, (his real son being left in the Greek mytholgy world), that'd be interesting.

The intro to this game is apparently twenty minutes of pushing forward on the stick while "deep, emotional" story happens. Hope I get to pick between a beer and a can of juice in this as well.

So like the last 20 minutes of GOW3 then?

Picking up right where they left off!

I've seen some spoiler gameplay and I hope they keep the "push forward" narrative parts to a minimum cause the core gameplay looks p good.

Some sort of switcharoo has to happen similar to that. Or maybe at some point, you start hunting a different Kratos. Like, Greek Kratos vs Norse Kratos? Multiple versions of Kratos from different timelines?

That sounds stupid as fuck but there has to be some sort of twist. If its a very straightforward story, all the time dedicated to it will be bland.

Theory:

They switch bodies like Freaky Friday and it becomes a Horizon clone since the kid can only use bows.

you guys are getting me hyped for this with your awesome story speculation, and i don't even have a PS4

the ending antagonist being a Greek Kratos with the full power of Olympus come to enact Ragnarok on the undeserving Norse Gods is the kind of absurd thing i've come to trust in Cory Barlog to setup for someone else to fail to execute :lawd

I'll pick this up at some point. The Norse mythology and the new combat system already had me convinced.

I'm a bit annoyed that I won't be able to play it at 60 FPS with my old launch PS4. Hopefully the PS5 will be backwards compatible.

The game got "leaked" and some people already have retail copies.

Actual game length:
Quote
Couple of guys beat the game in 12 hours without completing the side-missions. Some said the average game length is 19 hours, along with 8-10 hours of side missions”, said a source.

Per Game Informer, no new game+ option either.  They also said that Kratos' son is pretty helpful in battles and it doesn't feel like one big escort mission.
