Half in the Bag: Five Nights at Freddy's ripoff movies

(Apparently inspired by Willy's Wonderland starring Nic Cage and also the Showbizz Pizza Bear.)

I hope Rich is there, even if he is not a fan of the franchise.

Cosmic Sin cost me $5.99 to watch on Amazon Prime. That was approximately $129 too much, and I will be issuing an invoice to Amazon that I expect to be credited to my account.

Watching 8K of information on your phone on the bus! :rejoice

Surprised Jay and Mike liked it as much as they did actually. It definitely made me go look at the theatrical cut again for the first time in four years and I too was shocked at how much Whedon reshot. Like exposition scenes that didn't need to be reshot that were clearer and shorter turned into longer and more confusing scenes of people standing around. All the ADRing with bad jokes too. Those were one reason I was looking forward to this review even if I expected them to not like as much as they wound up liking it.

Someone on the RLM review said it'd make more sense as a 6-hour D+ show and that's probably right.

Abrams said his workprint actually was much longer than normal for the Star Wars films, like for Star Trek they were closer to the end runtimes. TROS did sound like it had a five or six hour workprint.

I'm unsure if it would be as coherent necessarily. Snyder has a history of working from five/six hour workprints but I don't know if Abrams does.

I will give him props there, he named more than I would have been able to. :P

Detective Chimp is just the best though, especially when you realize how many actual real Crisis and Crisis-level events have involved the character in a story-critical way. :lol

TROS' problems are very fundamental, more runtime is just going to add more theme park ride bullshit to it, not fix any real issue.

I do disagree on ending with that team hero shot. The right ending is a different hero shot, right before The Knightmare, with ironically the same last shot as the theatrical cut, of Clark opening his shirt to reveal the traditional Superman suit being back.

The rest of the epilogue is fine, Barry getting the crime lab job, Cyborg finally feeling comfortable in his own "skin", Bruce and Diana setting up the team headquarters, MARTHA?!? getting the house back via Bruce, etc.

I'd go with Lex and Deathstroke as the mid-credits scene, with The Knightmare as a cut scene for the extras that ultimately has no place in a three hour type cut of the film. It's there as a teaser for a film we never got and will never get, where Darkseid wins for the first part.

Fave points of this review:

- Jay spontaneously bursting out in laughter when Rich says "...even though there's been thousands of years without a Superman"

- Rich barely suppressing his chuckling when Mike intros Lois Lane's Whedon scene

- Mike: "She's hanging out at the Daily Bugle, or whatever-" *Rich and Jay cracking up in the background*

So weird watching this.

Mike still loves evil Superman, assumes it's mostly because Whedon fixed the color correction. :lol

Jay likes the jokes a lot more here.

The bigger things they shit on (motherboxes, Steppenwolf, etc.) stayed the same between the two versions.

Hindsight always seems to be 20/20, eh.

The problem was never the length, Snyder was expected to turn in a long workprint and he'd cut it down to two hours. That's standard movie making, especially by Snyder. Except that his daughter died and he stepped away from it. Now they had an opportunity, they didn't like Snyder's version and probably still don't except for a few executives. They wanted The Avengers with their characters and that's why they went and got the guy who made it. They had to get it out for a deadline in their contracts or else they'd lose executive bonuses. That Whedon got the money he did to even do all those reshoots was because they figured he would spin it into gold and they'd make a billion off of it. This was a company that was pinny pinching in the worst possible way so that it was eventually spending tens of millions on CGIing off a mustache instead of paying a flat fee of a few million to have Cavill shave it off and regrow it.

I'm not so sure. From what I've read Cavill was doing reshoots for JL while in the middle of shooting Mission Impossible and according to his contract they weren't allowed to physically remove the moustache.

Big  :brain strategy

Full dual-release (not just theaters or SVOD, both) and committing to it all over a year ahead of time. No more individual piecemeal delays like Disney and others pussyfooting around and then deciding on the Max strategy anyways.

I don't think they actually seek out guests...?
AFAIK, the canadians and freddie williams are just people they've worked with and have a 'swing by if you're in town' deal, the others made an effort to get in touch and arrange something?
