Wishes = shortcuts = lying

(Almost feels like that Yoda line. :lol "Wishes leads to shortcuts. Shortcuts leads to lying. Lying leads to the Dark Side."

everything is some sort of shortcut to some other method though

"ma'am you have cancer"

"oh no well I will just wish it away"

"no ma'am that's too easy and is not Truthful"

"oh well I read about an experimental treatment that has a high degree of success and is revolutionizing care for this type of cancer"

"nope that would still be an easy shortcut to a cure"

"oh well I guess it's traditional chemo then?"

"nope, still too easy, take these herbal remedies, we're going to beat this thing without taking any shortcuts at all"

The whole thing can be summed up by Wonder Woman telling Max Lord and everyone on earth at the end, including paraplegics, victims of hate crimes, those in war torn countries, etc. that: "This world was beautiful... just as it was!"

Pretty easy to say when you're an unaging demigod. :doge

I guess Josh or Jack was behind the camera because I feel Rich would have either jumped in or they would have tried looking to him. :lol

I did enjoy how the movie is led by a woman, directed by a woman, written by a woman, and they still wrote a female villain whose motivation was that she didnít look as good in heels. I mean come on.

The RLM video was 100 times better than WW1984 could ever hope to be. Can't believe they're already making another one and bringing Chris Pine back AGAIN.
:dead

Yea like I said jn the movies thread the 80's theme is vastle underused, bork said hey what about the clothes well honestly thats like miminum effort

I said "You mean except for all the hair and clothing styles, cars, interiors, cultural stuff, and that giant mall that looked straight out of Commando?"  There was plenty of '80s' in the movie.  It just generally was less "HEY LOOK THE 80S!!" after that mall scene and the Steve walking around scene.

They're both right. There's a bunch of 80s stuff but they do absolutely nothing with it. The exact script could have been the same thing set in just about any decade. In fact it would make more sense today than it did to be set in the 80s, where everyone has a device with a screen on them at all times that can actually be used to force transmissions from world leaders in real time in the real life. Not....transmitting video signals to Apple IIs and early word processors :dead

Maybe the movie was a broader concept where she made a WW movie like it was created in 1984. Which would explain all the weird tonal shifts, lack of action scenes, wedged in love interest angle, corny monologues and bombastic human villain.  So, it was less  about the setting but more about aping the movie tropes of that time.

in another universe I can imagine a WW84 that's like LOOK IT'S THE '80S! in an obnoxious annoying way, I would've thought it would earn some praise for using a light touch, the blockbuster version of subtle

but in that case it shouldn't have had 1984 in the name as if it was important

I thought there would be a more Orwellian bent to the villain or obstacles to overcome based on the title, myself :trumps

Should have been WW 1985 tbh

Wat? How?

I think this movie was intended as a comedy.
There's the Taliban guy fighting against tanks (possibly Soviets or Israeli's) with an AK 47 but he renounces his wish for nuclear weapons because the truth is beautiful and important  :lol

I loved that all of the amazons had to have Israeli accents because Gal doesn't know how to get rid of hers.

I feel they should also give credit to Mark Frost for Twin Peaks Season 3 staying coherent For the most part. As free as Lynch was with the season, TV is still a collaborative effort. That doesnít mean they should consider his books canon, of course.

Almost everything good about Twin Peaks comes from Mark Frost. The books are canon and better than season 3.  :birdman

I only now remembered the whole drama with Lynch almost not doing it at all.

Being fair, their job is pay attention even if they donít like the shit they are seeing.  :yeshrug

May as well just delegate the review to second feature or a year overview.

It's not their job to do anything, they're nearing middle aged nerds who make youtube videos.
