I know it's up to how they present it but this Picard S2 really looks like a fever dream which evokes more Twin Peaks than the Enterprise. Borg Queen eating car batteries ? Out of place musical numbers ? 7 of 9 finding dead bodies in present day LA backalleys ? ICE subplot (do they even tie that with the Romulan refugee plot of S1 which was already along that theme) ? Dr Soong trying to kill Picard with a Mercedes ?

Like what ?

Does anybody like Wil Wheaton?

that guy has had a weird path through life

hated perhaps unfairly for writing which was not his fault, then later everyone realized this and discovered the guy isn't so bad

becomes a sort of minor nerd icon like felicia day etc., talks candidly about his experiences, is an internet goof

has some memorable decent roles like in Leverage

then in his lust for validation becomes a parody of himself in shit like Big Bang Theory, shills hard for extreme cringe nerd shit like Ready Player One and Two (did the audiobooks), shills for Star Wars and Picard and just comes across terribly everywhere he goes

If anybody deserves an unironic nerd bullying like being shoved into lockers, wedgies, and swirlies it's Wil Wheaton who is like the real life caricature the likes of the nerd crew who uncritically just consooms and tries to shame you into consooming.

In retrospect, the TNG cast shelling out for Family Guy probably should have been a Red Alert klaxon.

It's super bizarre how it's looped back around on itself. The clips of him in these RLM vids are completely disconnected from my previous impressions of him.

For the record this is the most "gloves are off" criticism I've ever seen from RLM outside the Plinkett reviews (and maybe the GB16 HitB), Mike specifically. Rich straight up calling Picard fans outright morons, and Mike washing his hands of the whole thing after going on an impromptu 4-minute pitch-perfect parody of the show's laughably bad writing.

I didn’t mind Westley in TNG. I’m aware of the “Gary Stu” and “shut up, westley” jokes. But every clip of him in the review is obnoxious. I know there’s a plot reason for his absence in the movies but that’s never stopped them before. He had a cameo in Genesis that got cut. They’re reuniting the cast except him. Reads like fans would be more excited for Tasha Yar or even Pulaski returning.

It’s an interesting phenomenon where new content of something you love can kill your love for the original thing. Many people (myself included) experienced that with the Matrix sequels.

They're very close to being unironic Simpsons comic books guy (or Mr.Plinkett) here so that's probably for the best they stop harming themselves over it.

Rich is man enough to admit it's their "catching feels over Star Wars" moment.

Wil Wheaton... Curse of child actors, I don't think any of it is his fault and I would probably crack under the sort of negative, toxic attention too. Being reduced to a perpetually open mouthed hype man is melancholic. Then again not sure being on the retirement home show along all the aged, tired or bloating heroes of olde for a sad farewell tour is really a better fate (except the checks).

Star Trek never had any shortage of going back to the present day Los Angeles to deliver thick commentary (that Voyager two parter... Wasn't great) so... But there's something different to the look, tone and feel of Picard, even in art direction and lighting. It does feel high on the smell of its own farts.

Pulling out Gary 7 is a weird deep cut, but so was torturing that reformed Borg child from Voyager in S1.
I miss Picard and co dressing up as cartoon space pimps and pirates, at least it looked like fun if out of tone dumb.

what the hell are they even shooting at as they enter the room.
Can't hit distracted kids at point black range.

Oh I see they are shooting the edge of the screen. :dead

Also why is that scene so dark. Are Jedi always training kiddo's in the middle of the night?

The Andor thing looks shit too in the trailer.

It's getting close to direct to DVD levels but Steven Seagal in Star Wars would actually be more creative than this.

So it sounds like director/writer is an Indian Evangelical nut job, so the film was totally right wing propaganda but failing even in that.

(Image removed from quote.)

Have you seen these movies recently? For fun I put them on last night and man.. I started with Cradle of Life because that was on Netflix and when I was finished with that trainwreck I had to watch the first one.

Ok so in the first one, Angelina and Daniel Craig are both tomb raiders, the 90's buttrock is going on in every action scene, Jorah Mormont is the bad guy and is a member of the Illuminati. They are after the magical triangle which if you have it and you put it together at the right time when there is a solar eclipse and all the planets in the system line up, gives you total power over time and space.

Hmmk. A lot of actions that Lara does makes absolutely no sense, like deciding to fight the bad guy at the end in a temple that's totally coming down, and instead of shooting him he says "no guns" and they have a fistfight. Like what? Just shoot him.

I guess it's just full of bad action movie tropes.

The second one she's riding a motorcycle on the Chinese Wall, then jumps off it (how? Was there a ramp? We don't even see it, she's just flying all of a sudden). The plot is this big bad weapons guy is after Pandora's box because he wants to unleash it on the world and create a new world order, where he is the big bad bossman. How does he know Pandora's Box won't kill him as well?

I could probably write a lot more and detailed post but I really shouldnt care this much about such an old bad action film. Is why Id rather see Plinkett do it for all my pleasure and his torture.

Once again Angelina is hot AF in these movies. And in general, even though they are pretty bad movies, I think they got some stuff from the Tomb Raider games right. I like the mansion, I like the butler and his comedic little helper man. They have Lara riding a horsey and shooting at targets.

Like that shooting targets scene could be really good, but they decided to fuck it up with shitty movies and quick cuts.

A tasteful Lara Croft movie could have been so good. A heist movie with actual quality!

Now I will say that if they make another one of these movies, it should be Gal Gadot who plays Lara Croft  :-[, I see im not the only one with that fantasy lmao

One thing I really like about the current state of RLM is that they just obviously skip stuff that doesn't interest them and are not rushing to absolutely get reviews out at release. I think it means they're in a good place.

Brain Candy was a rare miss for me though. Couldn't sustain my interest through the video because I could not care less for the film.
