So these trailers led Rich to "drink" :(

Yeah first time I've seen Rich "drink" "alcohol" on-screen. And I've been paying close attention since that sketchy leaked 4chan post about RLM's backstory.

AVGN said he replaced his "booze" with a non-alcoholic substitute pretty early on in filming, so that's likely what happened here, but you never know...

I would think so, I know in the "lore" Rich doesn't like to drink and only has a couple of times because his wife wanted to see him drunk ???

But maybe he finally cracked.

Oh really? I thought he had a health issue and/or he soured on alcohol completely because of his family.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
I usually don't like gossiping about people this way but I've always been so curious about these guys for some reason. 😬

In any case it doesn't matter, as long as Rich is happy. :)

Yeah I think it was he mainly didn't like the feeling of being drunk but maybe some other stuff could be in the backround as well, just from what I remember when I looked it up ages ago.

Yeah me neither, but I like these guys and it was always somewhat weird you had everyone else getting destroyed and Rich just there trying to hold things together somehow.

I suppose if it was a health issue or some kind of major moral stand, Mike (even drunk Mike) wouldn't have joked about putting that beer to his lips on that one BotW a while ago (when Rich didn't drink it, it spilt on his shirt. :lol)

So you're probably right and I learned something new~

Gilcron/Gilchrist. Apparently he's leading some big furry-adjacent animation project/collaboration.

I think he just shit-talked them that one time on Twitch but it was a *lot* that one time. :lol That was also years ago, I'm sure everyone's moved on now.

I'm annoyed that they mention Jon Favreau so much but not Dave Filoni, most of this stuff stems from Dave's work.

They don’t watch the cartoons.    :trumps

In that regard I was surprised they didn’t start to complain about the cliffhanger and certain lightsaber. And more surprised they acknowledged the Clone Wars cartoon exists with that clip.

I’m pretty sure a lot of people already flooding with messages of “Watch clone wars is good and Filoni is the true god”.

Lightsaber?

Was Moff Gus not using a vibroblade? I figured a Moff carrying a vibroblade made a lot of sense

It seems not, is a direct connection with the cartoons (Filoni was one the main writers that of the cartoons)

spoiler (click to show/hide)

It also sounds like a big deal for the mandalorians in general, so more connections to the Prequels Era for better or worse for Mike and Rich.

I like both Tron movies for what they are. The first one drags at times and the soundtrack is borderline annoying, but I don't think the story is hard to understand. The second movie is much more convoluted, but with an awesome soundtrack.
Anyway, I think both movies are better than they are giving them credit for.

They were pretty cherry-picking with their counter examples, though. I m not a exactly a Star Trek fan but I could tell Mike tried to hammer a point that the contexts of those episodes may not hold.

Is Mike at his worst in his analysis, when he tries to hammer a point that maybe is more a visceral one that a thoughtful one.

Well they basically come out at the start saying Star Trek is not for them anymore, yet try to want it to still be made for them, despite it clearly being a dumb dumb show using nostalgia to boot.

Really missing half in the bag RN.

I basically agree with everything they said. Nothing in the script really worked for me, the "big scene" of Picard going on Fox News to defend Romulans humanity is dumb ass schlock writing.

This review will age a lot better in a few weeks once we've accepted the Picard show as well meaning but terribly written trash.

I totally saw that pro abstinence cartoon when I was a kid, it was Spanish dubbed and looked like a regular Saturday Morning cartoon.

Glad it won, is totally weird even in context. I wonder if that anti drug cartoon crossover would blow Mike mind given it also goes to places.

I dunno about the ending rant. I agree with overall point of Hollywood patting themselves as n the back and that is refreshing hearing a discourse just about how much someone loves making films... but I seriously doubt Bong joon ho thinks that way as. As they noted, Parasite is a very political film just not in your nose, but I feel that the Koreans celebrities and super artists are probably not that different political wise as Joaquin Phoenix while still living way better than the normal Korean citizen.

I don’t feel fair mocking Joaquin Phoenix mumbled all over the place speech when it feels that may come from a place of genuine feelings (I think he rarely name drops his dead brother, for example) like Bong Joon Ho citing and thanking Scorsese.

I think we can all agree that Abrams is a hack. Bringing back the Emperor, and with zero on-screen explanation was quite unforgivable. Then again, almost everything about the new trilogy was awful and not well thought out with no planning ahead, so it's consistent that way.

The best way to deal with this train wreck would be to declare the new movies non-canonical and start afresh maybe a decade from now.
Come up with an interesting story that takes place a couple of decades after the Emperor is (permanently!) killed in Episode VI and his empire is destroyed, and after the Republic is rebuilt. New villains, new heroes.

On the other hand, as it stands now I am perfectly fine with never watching another Star Wars movie; at least not in a cinema. It's dead, Jim.
