If you look at it as a social impact/cultural/political statement, the story of Black Panther is somewhere between nonsensical and disturbingly insulting.
It's a twist on the noble savage story while placing its antagonist as a pretty simple minded violent revolutionary. Somehow a macguffin meteor brought super technology and peace to a part of Africa without any exchange of ideas with the rest of the developing world. It doesn't reflect societal evolution at all.
However, its a great mystical setting with the crossroads of African settings, tribal dresswear and magical technology. And then it goes into awful CGI fights, but its at least a mystical magical story if you treat it like the comic book it is.
Instead of some sort of brilliant statement.
