Its offensive to the american staff of resetera, through a lens of american cultural norms, so its therefore automatically offensive to everyone, and any non-americans suggesting otherwise are "downplaying other posters concerns" or whatever.

Its an inflammatory false equivalence because its a valid point about cultural relativism and the relative interpretation of what the same words can mean in different cultures (or languages), but from the perspective that what americans think is right and others think is wrong, its inflammatory to challenge that assumption, and its false because it must be if they can't dispute it.
Plus good old transparent histories to coptalk the charges up and justify a ban.
