U.S federal government have a serious revenue problem

That's a very strange way to look at the undertaxing of wealth and the regressive policies that economically overburden the poor and middle class - including but not limited to taxation - and the vast and obvious waste and graft that happens in everything from Healthcare to the military industrial complex.

Taxes absolutely do not need to go up on everyone and it would be an economic catastrophe if they did without radical overhaul of the other financial burdens carried by everyone from part time janitors to San Francisco professors.

Offshoring and corporate buybacks (if fixed or improved) alone would massively benefit the working and middle classes and that's ignoring the fact that you've never heard a billionaire describe the impact of even a middling increase in his taxes on his personal lifestyle.

As reductive as it is these are historical economic facts:

We know that tax cuts for the wealthy don't increase employment.

We know that tax cuts for the wealthy don't improve the economy

We know that tax cuts for the wealthy don't improve investment or infrastructure.


So that in some cases the complaint might personally boil down to, "I'm no longer as comfortable using new Lamborghinis for mortar practice even though I can still easily afford to " in many of these cases the argument is about moneys they literally can't spend fast enough.

If you're getting down to the wealthy-but-only mansion and safe retirement wealthy I think there's a really detailed and even empathetic conversation to have. The economy must and should be maintained by encouraging a rational desire for personal gain and comfort and happiness. But we're seldom talking about those.

And every time I hear the words "small business" "family farm" and "death tax" I remind myself that they actually mean large corporations, Con--Agra and the Wal-Mart children who might only inherit tens of billions.

We're talking about adjustments that might mean drunken teen socialite and Instagram enthusiast, Binky Walton-Halliburton III only inherits nine billion instead of ten billion. And ironically that's much less cartoonish than "family farm."

Also I think there's an argument for quid pro quo on major lobbying efforts. If your corporation lobbies for and receives a massive tax cut based on promised job creation or infrastructure investment - then there should be no objection to keeping those promises or at the very least not doing the opposite. Of course that's literally not possible because they no longer have to directly identify themselves or limit their contributions.

People just refuse to admit to their inherent biases or to even consider that it is clouding what they would normally think.

First of all, it's interesting that these 'inherent biases' only seem to go in one direction. People using the arrests as evidence to maintain the narrative that Jussie is a victim, and the attacks happened, are not saying it due to inherent biases of course. The other thing is, the fact that they were two Nigerian actors that worked on Empire, were friends of Jussie, and even trained in his gym, raised more questions than it answered. The fact that they were suspects in the attack didn't somehow discount the possibility that the thing might have been staged. This weird idea that is has to be an either-or situation; no it doesn't.

Ultimately they were questioned. They weren't charged with anything. And the idea that the only line of questioning was solely about the attack, and not the possibility of the thing being staged seems unlikely to me. All avenues I'm sure were explored.
