Did smash 4 players ever use the pro controller? A lot of them are really young and shouldn't have any history with the gamecube controller.

Not really. Partially cause of the looming threat of a ban and partially cause they are wireless so there's inherent input lag. Also, at least locally, there was a period of confusion over the GC adapter using the USB ports and not having a place to plug in/sync the Pro controllers.

GC controller looked stupid but was comfy as fuck. It's only problem was the short ass cord and the wavebird killed that problem. :rejoice

Man the more I see of this game, especially in the hands of pros fighting 1v1, the more I really do think this will be the ultimate Smash game.

Also, two pet theories I have:

1. Waluigi will be the one of the first DLC characters, if there's DLC at all. I would estimate the final roster is already locked in place and they're basically just tweaking/balancing things right now. IIRC Brawl went gold in October, two months before its December Japanese release. If that timeline holds true, there's only three months left until Ultimate goes gold. But with DLC, hope springs eternal, and not only has Reggie confirmed Sakurai will hear about all the Waluigi stuff in the west but Mario Tennis just came out, which is where his character started. I don't care either way, I'm actually good on Smash characters now, but it's just been something I've been thinking about.

2. There will be a story mode with cutscenes of some sort. Probably not as in-depth or self-serious as Subspace Emissary, but the Ridley trailer ends in a peculiar way I feel -- we see Ridley do his Final Smash on Samus, which blows her ship and her up, but then we cut back to CG and it's the same environment as the beginning of the trailer. She's also jumping out of the flames here (in ZSS form) and begins to counterattack Ridley. The trailer's first CG part didn't show Samus getting flamed in that environment, so it seems like a case of creative editing. I dunno, I feel like this is definitely teasing something, because there's otherwise no reason for the ending piece of CG to exist.

I'm mostly coming around to the new art style and models. Some of the improvements on some characters really look great, but for when the lighting catches some characters a certain way they look quite bad. I'm hoping it all gets smoothed over for release.

I like the look of most of those, not bad. I like that they made Ryu look more like SFV. Something about that Sonic model looks weird to me though. And the shot they picked for Cloud in the new game is awful. The slowly evolving Fox look to make him more and more realistic creeps me out. :lol

Also been playing some Lucina at weeklies when there isn't an SFV tournament and she's a lot more fun and a lot easier than either Peach or Robin. Shoulda got on her sooner

Speaking of Lucina, I'm going to try picking up Marth/her with Ultimate. I'm already practicing a bit with 3DS (I'm too lazy to hook my Wii U back up. :lol) Love how elegant swordplay looks and feels but the lack of projectiles is something I need to learn to deal with. 😬

PS- Fox is still pretty cartoony compared to his Melee iteration lol.

Seems like all the characters have rim lighting which makes them really stand out compared to the background. Just look at the Jigglypuff comparison, sure she's also lighter in Ultimate but the lighting engine itself is making a world of difference. Not too shabby.

From what I've learned, they are pretty much the same except Luci is just "easy Marth" since she doesn't have to hit with the tip of the sword. I like her a lot cause it gives me a chance to work on other aspects of the character without having to be as good at spacing and she's a lot more consistent as well so she's easier for me to practice. Plus waifu. :heart

And I just meant the realistic fur stuff really. Something about it being applied to Nintendo characters seems weird to me and I can't explain why.

Some of the gameplay changes are really cool. Setting loser picks stage, being able to turn stage hazards off, having multiple stages per match, plus the tournament and Smashdown modes are definitely gonna see some use at gatherings here.

Also being able to turn on super meter for Final Smashes is a really awesome idea.

Yeah it's pretty cool that they are finally doing what both casual and competitive fans want in the same game. I guess this probably is Sakurai's last Smash and he wanted to go out with a bang.

The CV stuff was so hype for me... though I'm a bit disappointed that Shovel Knight was an assist, he would have been a good "indie" rep. Now I want something DQ for an assist trophy and maybe Crash.

800+ music tracks is absurd though :o

Maybe by the Switch successor, they'll finally break the 2D mold and make Smash fully 3D, a la Power Stone.   Fully interactive levels that can be customized with warp pipes, etc....?

:nothot You can thank me later, Nintendo.

It would change up all the advanced play mechanics and the dedicated playerbase would probably hate it (and keep sticking with Melee, lol).  Me?  All for it since I'm not hardcore into Smash.
:trumps

But Nintendo has a new 3D fighter series with ARMS already that I'd rather see get an improved sequel.

The only 17 unconfirmed stages from past games, and my notes.

64:
- Sector Z - Has a Melee equivalent in Corneria.
- Planet Zebes - Also has a Melee equivalent, but I'd still love seeing both of these back.

Melee:
- Ice Mountain - This stage always sucked, don't care.
- Mushroom Kingdom - The version from 64, plus Mushroom Kingdom 2 from Melee, are both included anyways.
- Mute City - Should be included.
- Flat Zone - Flat Zone X from Wii U is included and I can't tell the difference.
- Poke Floats - Should be included.

Brawl:
- Rumble Falls - The Brawl version of shitty Ice Mountain.
- Pictochat - Would love if this came back.
- Flat Zone 2 - Flat Zone X  from Wii U is included and I can't tell the difference.

3DS:
- Pac-Maze - Should be included.
- Rainbow Road - Should be included.

Wii U:
- Jungle Hijinx - Would love if this came back.
- Pyrosphere - Worst part of the stage was fucking Ridley and hazards can be turned off now, so no issues with this stage, but I understand why they wouldn't bring it back now that he's a full character.
- Woolly World - Another stage that was fine and I'd enjoy seeing return.
- Orbital Gate Assault - A fun stage but a bit bland.
- Miiverse - Basically Battlefield with graffiti. Don't care.

Overall, there's no "OMG I NEED THIS" stage I'd like to see anymore now that Fountain of Dreams is back. Poke Floats is probably closest and only because I know others who would be excited. What an incredible achievement -- 103 stages, goddamn.
