It's not just the show but the whole story. I'm a really big ASOIAF fan. I don't pay much attention to tv anymore besides stuff on FX and things available on streaming services like The Orville/The Expanse. There's so many goddamn good tv shows on now that keeping track is literally impossible because there's now enough tv to last me the rest of my life.

What is good, deep sci-fi on network besides Orville is the question?

I am wondering if they are going go go forward with a live action Dragonlance adaptation without the dragon warfare looking completely tame and nerfed in comparison. Since GoT already put in everyone's minds how devastating and brutal dragons can be to a single city. In Dragonlance they wage wars with hundreds of dragons, who besides being as powerful as Dany's are also able to conjure magic spells. But I don't see that being rated anything higher than PG 13, and you also need to show the good guys beating the dragons.

Generally in modern sci-fi and fantasy the proportionality of the weaponry and stakes are way off.

Take Star Wars TFA for example. At the start they fire one laser beam and destroy an entire solar system.
They don't conquer their enemies, they simply wipe them out. In Avengers, well, half of all living creatures are destroyed.
When CG armies clash literally hundreds die in every frame.

Game of Thrones fell victim to this as well once they got their higher budgets.
The entire Dothraki cavalry was wiped out in less than a minute and then respawned the next episode in bigger numbers.
The dragon had to be this really powerful thing because they had already fought a million of zombies and they somehow had to 'top' that with a new threat.

Agreed, but I am not even talking about internal logic in GoT here. I'm talking about viewer expectations going forward. I just think the sacking of King's Landing is going to be this big, infamous event and maybe shifted the overton window on the expectation from dragon attacks going forward.

I think the viewers (the intelligent ones anyway) sorta understand now that big fires and hundreds of CGI puppets don't equal 'stakes' or 'caring'. So a smaller scale battle could leave a more lasting impact.
Everything that happened in the 1st Chernobyl episode to a handful of engineers and rescue workers left a much bigger impression on me than all the deaths and misery of GoT season 8 and I watched both around the same time.

I didn't bother extensively watching this show (it's bad and always has been folks) but I tuned in for the last episode for shits and giggles to compare it with the eventual bad book ending and installing Bran as eternal philosopher king is peak nerd wishful thinking. It's like Dune with no Jihad. The Jordan Peterson ending.

This show has never been anything more than Days of Our Lives with a bigger budget.

Great video.

The more time goes by the more i like King Bran. He would be the first chapter in ASOIAF and also the lat. The problem is that he's not developed well on the show so it feels hollow. But the pieces are certainly there.
