Actually read the Zizek article about the bad dragon show. Reading Zizek in 2019 (my god).

1. Describing Dany as a Bonapartist figure is an interesting observation but I'm not sure it's one I agree with. In Meereen she certainly attempted to mediate a revolution in individual freedoms and a profoundly reactionary culture, but she wasn't particularly successful in that endeavor and she only slid into such a course of action after it became apparent she was dealing with (to deliberately use the language of imperialism) an armed insurgency. Her time in Westeros was brief but there was never anything similar to that; her arc as a cautionary tale about legitimist movements seems a much more supportable argument.

2. I agree that the moral of the tale is quite conservative (the Six Kingdoms end with a literal philosopher king), but I'm a little surprised that Zizek didn't notice or chose not to write about how that conservativism in particular indicted democracy done outside the narrow confines of formal power. For example, I found it quite impressive (grading on the low curve television necessitates, obviously) that the sacking of King's Landing was explicitly depicted as a democratic action. Forces routinely ignored the commands of Jonny Utah (even our brave, noble, men of the north) to do some war crimes because they wanted to and the Unsullied have always been myrmidons by choice rather than by necessity. Sure the message itself is Nolan tier Tory drivel, but it was conveyed in such a manner that only the silliest Puritan type reads it as a fAlL oF mAn situation.

I agree, Zizek's article was thought provoking, if limited. He missed some things for sure, and he has an idealized vision of Dany. I would love to see someone push back on his points and see how he responds to criticism.

The Napoleon comparison falls completely  apart once you realize that there was no revolution in Mereen. It was a coup at best and an imperialist invasion at worst to remove a societal structure that she deemed to be inferior and savage. It's as asinine as saying that the government in Meereen past Daenerys was a metaphor for Vichy-France.

I didn't bother extensively watching this show (it's bad and always has been folks) but I tuned in for the last episode for shits and giggles to compare it with the eventual bad book ending and installing Bran as eternal philosopher king is peak nerd wishful thinking. It's like Dune with no Jihad. The Jordan Peterson ending.

"Daenerys represents the chaos dragon which is a manifestation of the female energy. The executed eunich represents the futility of the modern feminist man trying to conform to the subversion of heteronormative Western values, a cuck if you will.  Mhhhmm, right. And it makes sense that the masculine king sits on the throne and the mad witch gets stabbed in the chest."

Daenerys was clearly based on Genghis Khan and his horde. They tried to hide it with a pretty face and some tits but anyone who has any knowledge of history could guess the source material.

- Jon = Frodo

Shout out to all these things having ZERO impact on the story

to be fair, Arya's faceswapping stuff was resolved with her ending House Frey. That should have been her entire arc and that would be fine. She felt shoehorned in Season 8.

It’s like you missed that entire plot point and the 5 times I pointed it out.  Without his lineage Dany never gets paranoid about people finding out, doesn’t get mad at people spreading the info, Dany doesn’t lose Jon as a lover, etc.

Uh uh, right. That's why she literally gets triggered and snaps when she hears bells for some reason and ravages the peasants with a psychotic expression the entire time. And turns into a sith lord the next episode and rambles like an insane person. If you still haven't accepted that they turned her into a Mad Queen by the final episode, you are a blithering fool, riotous.

Game of Thrones’ showrunners say Daenerys’ big decision was completely spontaneous

Quote
“I don’t think she decided ahead of time that she was going to do what she did,” Weiss says. “And then she sees the Red Keep, which is, to her, the home that her family built when they first came over to this country 300 years ago. It’s in that moment, on the walls of King’s Landing, when she’s looking at that symbol of everything that was taken from her, when she makes the decision to make this personal.”

let's see

gets sold into essentially slavery by her douchebag brother
watches her brother get brutally executed
faces an assassination attempt
watches her husband slowly die
makes a blood magic pact with a witch who kills the baby she is carrying in exchange for letting her husband live in a braindead state
euthanizes her braindead husband in a funeral pyre
burns herself alive in a ritual to become the dragon queen
backstabbed and betrayed multiple times and loses friends, mentors and advisors throughout her journey over 7 seasons

loses her mind over two episodes because the Northmen like Jon more than her

So they had her acting paranoid, losing sleep, looking like she needed concealer, burning Varys alive, being turned away by Jon and looking pissed as hell, declaring "Let it Be Fear" etc. all for nothing.. because in some stupid interview that isn't part of the show the show-runners said something dumb.

Her mental state before that had NOTHING to do with it.

This. How dense and stupid can one be to ignore this? It seems pretty dense

Claiming Jon's heritage had no impact on the story  :lol

You seem to hate the writing yet you aren't even paying attention to the damn show rofl.

for the record, I was content with posting memes, and even defended Arya's arc somewhat, and then riotous got triggered by one of the parts in a meme and started reeeing all over the place.

Also, it is obvious to any but the most mentally limited of us that the build up and payoff of Jon's parents is thematically weak, not that it didn't play any part of the show whatsoever.
