Yes, there is a disproportionate number of mentally ill people on Resetera. Mental illness is Resetera's secret sauce.

The ongoing THQ Nordic hatred is amazing  :delicious

Quote
Don't forget about all the things you're supporting when you consider any THQ Nordic games.
Quote
Yeah, really disappointing. I have a hard time seeing how I could support THQ with the shit they’ve been up to.
Quote
I'm always baffled at people who can see the kind of shit THQ has done, and supported and go "Yeah, still gonna buy the games though cuz games" its legit surprising.

It was one event and literally nothing came of it  :neogaf

Imagine the day that Nintendo partners with a new ad agency that accidentally runs ads on all the chan sites for a while, the company says "whoops our bad" and no one gets fired

Imagine when a a random Sony employee likes a tweet about electing Sargon for whatever thing he's running for and Sony doesn't fire him

Sometimes I think THQ Nordic is a big, giant money laundering machine or something like that. I don't have proof but also no doubts.

I mean, if they're fine with homophobia, white nationalism, and child pornography I wouldn't be surprised if they were also okay with money laundering.

It's not like the boycott has even been going on for a year.. and these guys invest low and they expect returns that arent astronomical. Definitely works on quantity rather than quality output. I mean, read a rumor Elex 2's budget is 5-10Million euros I think? They dont need to set the world on fire with sales to make a sizeable profit. The engine was inhouse and the sequel will 100%be using the same

Someone should probably tell THQ that they're being boycotted because i'm fairly sure they don't know about it... :P

well thats all according to keikaku for a money laundering operation.
I'm not definitely saying that THQ definitely is a money laundering operation as definitely evidenced by an AMA on 8Chan and not ResetEra.com LLC, The hottest place to talk about video games and more, but I'm not not saying that.

it's completely cool to protest and call out THQ in related thread, i too think what they did was reprehensible, but i think the difference compared to EGS threads is that the backlash against EGS and their moneyhats/etc aren't limited to era and are seen in other gaming communities and reported in major gaming websites, whereas the boycott and calling out of THQ hasn't had much of a traction outside era. i don't see why people are surprised that their boycott hasn't had any effect, it's not widespread enough, and it only seems to be brought up in specifically THQ-related threads while the games put out by the parent company's other subsidiaries like deep silver aren't really getting the same reaction, not to mention all the other games they have a hand in publishing or distributing (shenmue 3, pretty much any major 3rd party game in europe by capcom/sega/bethesda/SE/etc).

That's not true though? Stop eating up American propaganda.
Are we... pretending the Chinese and U.S. government are the same when it comes to how gathered intelligence is applied?

China applies gathered intelligence to target dissident groups within China.
The US does that too (targets dissidents within the US).

But also uses intelligence to destabilise foreign sovereign powers, interfere with foreign elections, kidnap foreign citizens via extraordinary rendition, assassinate foreign citizens, issue drone strikes on both military and civilian targets, leaves government mandated security holes in exported technology to allow access to its security forces, and has in recent memory fabricated intelligence to justify the invasion of a foreign sovereignty in direct violation of UN wishes. It also spends vastly more on its military than anyone else on the planet.

I mean... if China is engaging in the same level of fuckery at the geopolitical scale that the US is, they must be super fucking good at it, because they haven't been caught doing that. Unlike the US has. On multiple occasions.

This is some stupid fucking shit to juxtapose.

Not really.
As a non-US citizen, I'm more concerned about the foreign power with the history of being more than willing and able to both spy on foreign citizens and also to take any action it deems necessary with complete disregard for sovereignty than I am about the country also spying on foreign citizens but that contains its actions to within its own borders.

e:
A US monopoly on global infrastructural resources - like, say, Windows or RSA encryption for secure payment processing - has knock on effects when the NSA insists on leaving back doors to allow it access, because it then results in civilian damage as a byproduct when things like Wannacry or Birthday attacks occur when black hats independently find those exploits the NSA asked to be left in.

The US is pushing the narrative hard that chinese governmental security forces have backdoors via their civilian technology sales, despite having no proof to supply anyone that that is the case, because the US governmental security forces have backdoors via their civilian technology sales. Its textbook projection.

I would rather be a dissenter in the US than in China, but thats not the point. I don't live in either of those places, but one of those two routinely interferes in other countries and the other doesn't.

Chinese technology firms = the biggest security risk is a propaganda smoke screen.

Its not Chinese botfarms serving up #fakenews, interfering in domestic elections and having ex-pat dissidents mysteriously drop dead from polonium poisoning.
If theres an imminent and ongoing threat to US informational security, and a hostile intelligence force actively attacking US citizens through things like disinformation campaigns, its not fucking China doing it.

Wait you don't think china is serving up "fakenews"?

Chinas #fakenews is boring old domestic propaganda about how great they are, and how they can put up a city over a weekend then launch an artificial moon to provide free street lighting for it.
Its not really any different to the USSR parades of cardboard tanks to show their military superiority.

Its not Hillary Clinton trafficks children as sex slaves in a paedophile ring run from a pizza place sent directly into targetted US citizens facebook newsfeeds as sponsored advertorial to manipulate an electorate.

i'm not trying to be facetious, but why are people up in arms about huawei and the children of mao doing what the NSA has been doing for decades?

I get your point, but informational warfare is relatively independent of other factors, and can be asymmetric while remaining effective, like guerilla warfare in more traditional combat is.
Like, Mossad or MI5 punch way above their weight class in terms of spook power rankings versus the actual power of the state that controls them.
