People here are underestimating how young a lot of these pdp fans are. Looking thru twitter and seeing all kinds of pdp defense forces but these are from children who really cant begin to understand what’s going on in the world

It’s really hard to have this conversation with this part of his audience because they idolize pdp and the internet culture that is so provocative and edgy and allows these jokes to transform into hate. Im curious what the older pdp fans are like on these forums— twitter, discord, etc. that continue to foster and encourage the rhetoric that normalizes alt right culture to kids. Im curious how the recruitment happens and how successful they are at it. A tragedy like this gets so many of his young fans to get political, but they will end up seeing the wrong side, and start resenting the “SJWs” and PDP haters for dragging down PDP. Its very similar to how Trump fans brush off everything he does and points the finger right back at the Trump Haters for being hateful.

Pdp kids just don’t understand and i cant imAgine how others can sit them down to look at the bigger picture. This is an issue of anti racist education. But we are not equipped to handle the speed and pervasiveness of how internet culture works here.

There is also an easily accepted notion that chaos and division is what the shooter was going for and the best thing to do is not talk about PDP. But it misses the point. Parents need to be more aware of how easily corruptible and damages kids can get from following these stars

This is a losing war we’re having with our youth and no one is aware of it because parents dont give a fuck to think of what their kid is doing on the internet chat rooms

lmao he tweets at Donald Trump...of course he does

and notch

and Tucker Carlson
Does anyone actually think Trump personally writes out these tweets, much less read replies?

Isn’t there an intern that has been seen actually writing these out multiple times?

Also, if he won’t respond to the same 4 journalists that always insta-clapback/agree in tweets with 10k likes, he’s not going to tespond to some asshole with 2 likes.

I think he writes them most of the time but doesn’t exactly know how to do anything else. Dude is a known computer illiterate.

they're discussing how to argue with pewdiepie fans on twitter: https://www.resetera.com/threads/pewdiepie-attempts-to-distance-himself-from-christchurch-mosque-shooter-who-pledged-support-read-threadmarks.105466/post-18879060

also, grand theories:
Quote
I'm gonna use this as a springboard for something i've been thinking about for a while. ERA, feel free to correct me if i'm wrong/misunderstanding the situation.

I've come to believe that there's a group of people that have latched on to PDP as a way of doing "soft-recruitment" by introducing the following ideas to normal PDP fans:

- "Virtue Signaling"
- "The left just wants to shut down anything they don't agree with"
- "PC culture is out of control"

These ideas introduce the normal fans to more politically inclined/radicalized YouTubers and in turn these new YouTubers pick up where these "recruiters" left off by introducing the more racist rhetoric.

Years ago these people wouldn't be caught dead referencing PDP memes cause he was seen as a blight on the internet. He was a "cringe-y" youtuber for kids that made money yelling into a mic and playing video games. They still don't truly care about him or his reputation, but they latch on to him for his audience and because they can hide behind him. Now as to why PDP might find it so "hard" to push back against this is that he's fully aware if he comes out against him these "recruiters" will drop him hard and move on to their next internet personality. Even now with his weak-ass rebuttal you see people posting stuff like "why did you cave in to their demands? Don't apologize."

Make no mistake. PDP is a shithead who has been playing with fire for the clicks. He has allowed this to happen his community by not wanting to appear as an "SJW" and all that.

As if she'd have that kind of power, other people have been banned more times than me and are still posting, I haven't done anything worth catching a perm yet.

It's a little simplistic to think my sister would compromise her position just to bail me out of a "false equivalency" ban.

Only a handful. You're in a very high percentile. Statistically you and everyone else on 5+ actions is a outlier

It's a little simplistic to think my sister would compromised her position just to bail me out of a "false equivalency" ban.

Nah, i'm saying the fact that she's your sister and people know it may have caused them to ban you instead of perming you on one of those occasions, to avoid bad blood.

All the usual people who put a flag as their profile picture and write, 'thoughts and prayers' or 'I stand with ...', when there's a terror attack - which normally makes cynical me all, 'Jesus, give it a rest'... - they're all carrying on as if nothing has happened.

I want to try and follow their logic for a minute:

Islamic terrorism is created by a cycle of colonialism and western influence, not limited too military invasions and bombings, that extremist religious figures use to radicalize disaffected youth. In order to stop islamic terrorism, you must first address the root cause, which is the above cycle.

BUT

White terrorism is similarly caused by radicalization online of disaffected youth, and in order to stop that cycle you have to... deplatform and arrest everyone?

Isn't that just virtual military action? Won't that just cause radicalization to increase and doesn't at all address the root cause of the problem?

It's as if they've cultivated a community with the sole purpose of impulse screeching all day :idont

Yeah, youre right. The subs(and money) are more important to him than making the world a better place. I don't care how much he gives to charity, it'll never be enough to bring back lost lives on the account of his irresponsible behavior. I feel defeated, I just want positive change in this world but we're continuing to go the other direction. And to think, 10 years ago I used to believe all the old racists would eventually die off and the world would be a better place. How naive I was. Now we have internet celebrities that garner young hate groups as their followers. It's fucking depressing.

What's this nonsense with constantly posting, "I feel defeated",  "I feel so tired." You haven't fucking done anything.   Why are you "defeated" and "tired"?

trying to reconcile all that cognitive dissonance
