Let me preface this by saying Kirblar is a dick, but to ban someone for calmly discussing a topic on a discussion forum seems absolutely absurd.

I know this has been said a million times before, but just think about that statement.

Kirblar was banned for stating his opinion and backing it up with measured and considered arguments.

Yet any time a member brings up references to echo chambers, 1984, Animal Farm or Fahrenheit 451, they are told to shut up and are most likely banned themselves.

It's completely absurd that you have a selection of handpicked mods backed up by extremist admins deciding what a whole community must think, feel and say. The most unbelievable thing is that you have 40,000 people still willing to swallow this shit and not protest or boycott the whole thing.

And the majority of those are just in community threads or gaming topics.
The number of people constantly shitting up threads is like 200 max.

Kirblar was banned for going against the grain. He wasn't wrong about what he said. But still fuck kiblar for his bernie hatred that he's now seemingly taking in.

Nah, Kirblar was banned to make it so the heated threads went away, he was determined to keep bringing it up and fighting everyone over it. Now the Omar story is all but gone from the headlines and he'll be told in the discord to stop bringing it up.

Same with the thread locking, POST IT ALL IN PRIMARIES THREAD method. Sometimes a few prominent eggs get broken for a little while.

Kirblar would be a little more credible as a rugged realpolitik "adult on the board" type if he was actually more cynical about it. But he always end up making the "benevolent" argument without any mention of the more morally dubious pursuit of the nation's interests and preserving your place in the pecking order.

Also that whole cognitive dissonance of getting the vapours at Russian running influence campaigns while always being OK with any form of US actual, literal warfare.

one time my friend was house sitting for his mom so we were going to meet there after he got off work (around 11:30pm) so I got there like 15 minutes earlier than expected but didn't know the exact address was so went to a nearby park and sat in the parking lot. around 5 minutes later a cop pulled up and shined a flashlight in my face, almost blinding me and causing emotional pain. he asked me what I was doing, I explained and he said "oh, well the park is technically closed so you can't be here." then he told me to leave. I was shaking because of how close I came to death at that moment.

Is not strange that is always Bungie and BioWare declaring they “made the game they wanted to make” and neither Activision or EA forced their hand? (Even though Bungie needed to buy themselves back and Anthem is a obvious patchwork that is still in beta).

that stealth forum recruitment drive  :ohyou

aaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd locked by sweetfuckall because of "a lack of information or misinformation" :teehee

Butttttttttt BACK with the even more "Wait, wtf? Fuck you Epic" headline, and yet another not-sostealth-forum-recruitment-drive because yes, resetera is fucking shit as its primary purpose as a games forum.

https://www.resetera.com/threads/developing-epic-games-launcher-appears-to-collect-your-steam-friends-play-history.105385/post-18850664

And the saga continues, as resetera.com LLC administrator and Chinese market analyst makes sure the tencent owned epic response is added both to the OP and as a threadmark.

And that response?
"Yeah, we harvest a bunch of data we have no real right to access without asking before doing it, but it's just to save you some time if you decide you want us to have that data later!"

For sure, but that's not EA going to BioWare and saying "you need to make us a Destiny clone" - it's EA saying "if you want resources, show us how your game is going to make long-term revenue." Huge difference there!
yeah, the latter has a much bigger threat implied :lol

It's funny reading posts that seem reasonable and thought out until you think about it, like this one:
Quote
I think people shit on EA and Activision for the wrong reasons. They aren't corporate suits who force devs to make last years hit game and stuff it with microtransactions. Instead, their problem is that they give zero useful guidance and direction. In theory EA and Activision should both be learning very useful things from their big and small studios and competitors and distilling it info useful info that can help all their companies. Mistakes learned from battlefront 2, what PUBG/Fortnite means for the industry, etc.

Instead both seem like clueless parents who just tell their kids "do whatever man, just be happy (aka make us lots of money)" and when their studios fail miserably they just wash their hands of them.
Activision owns Call of Duty AND Treyarch, Black Ops 4 by any standard hit every single metric they could want while dumping the single player (which can't be monetized as easily) for a battle royale and stuffing it full of microtransactions like the other two multiplayer modes.

Activision ultimately did not own Destiny or Bungie and they were coming up on having to renegotiate a deal that didn't meet a single one of the original goals when it was made ten years ago, so they let Bungie take it.
