Also, fuck anyone who wants to tow the bullshit line of "respect cultural differences" when it comes to human rights.

well there's the rub isn't it? the human right to practice and believe in whatever you want is directly up against the human right to practice and believe in whatever you want. it's where the domineering idea that everything everyone wants to do and believe is always okay comes a cropper.

White people got complacent after WW2. The idea that the source of evil and bigotry had been conquered by war was foolishly reinforced to placate those with privilege. Straight white Christians had a boogeyman they could pin as a scapegoat forever. Minorities all over the world have been screaming what needs to be done and too many people wanted to live in ignorant bliss. Now it's coming back to bite hard at humanity again and once again people of color have to bare the burden of a naive society.
I find this wording interesting. And the notion that "minorities" not only in Europe and North America but "all over the world" had figured out this one weird trick to work effectively and permanently.

Also the idea that evil had been forever conquered, and "straight white Christians" could simply "scapegoat" Nazism for anything bad, when the next 50 years were spent in a series of proxy wars with the Soviets including a hilarious boycott of the Olympics.

What I'm saying is that nobody actually reads EdibleKnife's word salad posts, they just see length and praise them for something using so many words coming from a lesser race. :hitler

It's all word salad, but "white people got complacent after WW2" is especially odd when he later goes on to claim that "once again people of color have to bare the burden" considering who had to actually bare the burden of Nazism in WW2  :huh

I do wonder actually if he even means 'minorities' rather than 'people of colour'. There is a tendency in the West to associate minorities with people of colour. Demographically speaking it would probably be fairly accurate in most Western countries as well. When these words are almost thrown around as buzzwords it is easy to see how they can be mixed up.

And I wonder this because, I'm not so sure he would be the first to criticise Muslims for the oppression of Yazidis or Coptic Christians in Muslim majority countries for instance. Yet, probably the first to criticise Western foreign policy in those same countries. Oppression of minorities seems to work in only one direction with these people.

I don't know what is more embarassing. Thinking that poster is sexualised or writing a full analysis of why it's not

Quote
Not at all. Dora is not standing directly in front of the camera, as Tracer is in that photo, but is shifted towards the right, which doesn't expose her to such a vouyeristic gaze. It also works as the viewer can see her backpack and map, two of her classic sidekicks, which would not be easy to convey without seeing her from behind or the side. Dora has typically been presented as a leader, so it makes sense that she would be in front of the rest of the group and need to turn to address them, rather than uncharacteristically displaying herself to the viewer ala Tracer. Also her face is brightly lit while her back and legs are much darker, drawing attention away from them.

You can make a good point about the absurdity of wearing such short shorts while trekking through the jungle, but that feels like more of a reference to the original character design than anything.

People have butts, sometimes they will face a camera, end of story you weirdos.

Lol, ok, don't quote me, say I'm trying to "pick a fight" multiple times, evade Tetra's long post explaining his position after our conversation, then bail.

You're burying your head in the sand instead of just listening to victims, which hurts victims of sexual abuse.
Is not quoting you a break of etiquette?

BTW how many REEEEers have tummy problems?  Like anything besides tendies and water will make them deathly ill.

Era only drinks 6 cans of pop a day minimum.

There's that quotient, but any time a beverage comes up (especially beer or soda) there's a whole slew of people who go "yuck, all I need to drink is delicious water".

I actually went to a BK recently and the person in front of me and behind me ordered coffee. Made no fucking sense.

I used to get breakfast at BK pretty regularly.  Their coffee is actually pretty good.  IIRC they use Seattle's Best.

I get coffee at BK every morning on my way to work. Nobody else does, so there is never a line. :rejoice
