No itch.io support, no buy.
Why would a digital service that simply directly streams games on servers to you have to support itch.io?

How would that even make sense?  : :stop

You don't NEEED stadia to play indie games!!!!!

Yes... And?  ???

Counterpoint that might be distinguished mentally-challenged: doesn't stadia open up indie development to make games beyond retro throwbacks now that they don't have to target absolutely base level shitty systems to reach the widest population of players?

edit: fuck I engaged with a moron on reset. already feel myself getting stupider

I'm serious, this shit was amazing.. my wife and I discovered all of this.. found a post someone made about it on IGN:

https://www.ign.com/boards/threads/forum-poster-pretends-to-be-girl-for-10-years.208030983/

Quote
Anyone ever hear of Brianna Haskins or BleepGGE? Perhaps an Evil Genius or Eevul Jenius?

There are accounts all over various gaming forums with these names; TeamXbox, GameSpot, GamersRepublic.net, etc. All girl gamers with elaborate back stories, especially "Brianna Haskins/BlleepGGE" who has 10's of thousands of posts across numerous forums.

In one colossal thread it was discovered that this was all the work of one lonely man, who had been posting as multiple accounts on the internet, including having them talk to each other, for over a decade:

http://wecravegamestoo.com/forums/off-topic-lounge/9851-thread-dumb.html

It's a LOOOONG thread.. but I believe worth the read.

The gist of it:

- *redacted* is a 37 year old man from Puerto Rico
- *redacted* invented a fake cartoon pop band, made up of girl gamers from all over the world, including Australia, Japan, the US, and Puerto Rico
- Across various forums it looks like this JJ Esteban posted as various females, that somewhat correlate with the locations of his fake pop band.. they even have gamertags with avatars that resemble his drawings
- His "australian" character for instance says "m8" and "mum" every other word
- Through the course of this JJ stole various pictures of females from around the web
- Elaborate stories include "Brianna Haskins", his main fake account.. that over 10 years or so at TXB and other forums told tales of being married, owning hot topic stores, and adopting a 1 year old from China.

A long-time poster at various forums known as "riotous" unraveled most all of it (he posts as GhostOfR in the thread).

I THINK it's pretty damn funny. But then again, I've posted at forums with this person for a few years and always thought they were kind of fake.

The latest development? JJ Esteban himself shows up, to explain some of it.. and say how mad he is about his "friend" Brianna using some of his identity... of course, his IP matches Brianna's.

Anyways, check it out!

There's quite a bit more we ended up finding.
On a previous forum where I used to post, I was a bit of a diva and one of the 'popular' members. So enter this girl poster who flirted with me for years and years, I eventually figured out she was a man playing catfish games (she admitted it) so I started flirting back heavily and as a result she got to fish longer due to my 'credibility' lmao

Stadia is by Google, and Google own Youtube.

This is the first console funded in part by alt right content creators and viewers such as PDP, Boogie, H3H3, and Jake Paul.

Stadia therefore is a Nazi console, and game streaming is the equivalent of the Nazi constitution.

Quote from: Stinkies
He was asked the other week if he would take any advice from Hillary about running against Trump and uh - it was almost surreal. I'm all about keeping it real - Hillary lost after all -- but he was so instantly angry and apparently oblivious to the fact that Hillary had a LOT of voters he needs that it made me question not just his political and diplomatic instincts but his actual rationality. He's never once demonstrated that kind of deep anger about you know, Donald Trump.

Let's not forget who the real victim is here.

https://www.resetera.com/threads/2020-democratic-presidential-primary-ot-bernie-hires-sirota-after-he-had-written-articles-attacking-rivals.91234/page-317#post-19023880

Quote
During an interview on ABC's "The View" Friday, the Vermont independent senator, who's seeking the Democratic nomination, was asked if he plans to meet with Clinton to talk about 2020, which other Democratic candidates have done already.

"I suspect not. Hillary has not called me. Look, we have differences," Sanders said, before acknowledging that "Hillary has played a very important role in American politics."
Asked if he's interested in any advice from Clinton, Sanders replied, "I think not."
"Hillary and I have fundamental -- you know, fundamental differences. And that's what it is," he explained.

Nah, indies make retro styled games for the same reasons indie directors make films about the human condition and not CGI filled popcorn flick blockbusters filled with star power; can't fucking afford it & don't want to.

I dunno if stadia is going to be successful, but its a closer value proposition to "Netflix of gaming" than the console warriors on era want to admit.

I mean.. they can't really do it faster than MS.  MS is more experienced in that area and alread has more datacenters / a bigger infrastructure.

But yeah, Sony is a pawn.

xcloud seems like its going to be running actual xbox hardware (and presumably nextbox hardware) blades at their data centres, so you'll be streaming literal xbox games.
stadia is going to be custom hardware PCs, presumably running linux.
It'll be, what, a year? into the next gen console lifecycle where PC Ultra settings are noticably better than a console baseline.

e: but the fact that video of a game at PC Ultra is going to look better than video of the same game at a console baseline with AO / Lightsources / Shadows / etc set to lower values isn't what is going to sell stadia over buying an xbox and a gamepass subscription and an xcloud subscription and an xbl subscription and an EA gamepass subscription.

Because MAH SUPAHERO MOOOOOVIEZ~!!! and MAH REPRESENTATION~!!!

Nevermind that 1-2% of the average budget of these barely passable films (basically the catering bill) going to communities in crisis like Chicago would make a world of difference in the real lives of minorities, rather than lining the pockets of already rich people.

KICKSTARTER PROJECT’S $85,000 RAN OUT A LONG TIME AGO, SAYS ZOE QUINN
Quote
In October of 2016 Zoe Quinn and Chuck Tingle managed to secure $85,448 to make a live-action FMV game. In August of 2018 Chuck Tingle claimed he had no involvement with the game, and that it was all in the hands of Zoe Quinn. Updates have been sporadic and infrequent on the Kickstarter page, but the latest update wasn’t on Kickstarter but Twitter.

In the update, posted on March 19th, 2019, 200 days after the last update, Quinn responded to a Twitter user asking about the Kickstarted FMV game based on Chuck Tingle’s characters. Quinn responded with the following…

It'd go a long way if she'd just come out and say "the scope of the project was way beyond what we asked for and we can't finish it" instead of this feckless pity party. I like Quinn and enjoy her work, but I can't say I like what she's done here.

Let's be real, if one of the big 3 announced a 10tf console I doubt you would see anyone saying "oh but power consumption, the poor environment". Instead you would have a bunch of excited nerds here salivating over the news.

But I guess it's easy to pick flaws and be supercilious when it's something you deem to be a threat to the things you like (or if it's something you don't like at all).

So many high and middle profiles Kickstarters for games went off rails in that manner, it's not really surprising really and calling it a scam (without any more info) is maybe hyperbole (I'd rather reserve that for Star Citizen).

Turns out making games is expensive still.

Quote
ran out of money a long time ago, not cool with asking people to work for free, got a day job to start crawling out of debt and in a place where I can properly finish it. this is the day job.

I'm just kind of assuming era aren't going to cover zoe quinn scamming people on kickstarter

"not cool with asking people for something and giving them nothing in return"
The irony is palpable.

I mean... its Black Mirror: Bandersnatch Hard Gay edition... the technical risks of making something that you could make on Youtube with annotations aren't going to be a big financial black hole...

e: Like... you could author it as a DVD and distribute it as an ISO with a link to VLC.

Zoe Quinn should probably refocus on her crash override network. Which can be abbreviated to CON, can't make that shit up.  :doge

Maybe. But I think we all know by now a lot of Kickstarters have optimistic and unreasonable goals predicated on best case scenarios or some form of additional funding even when led by seasoned and experienced designers. 85,000$ would seem to me as barely enough to pay two persons over a full year. It's awfully meager even for a relatively simple game.

By all means she doesn't get a pass for it. And maybe she mismanaged it, as it stands I don't have any info to lean on that aspect.
