The Smollet thread is so predictable.  I won't shed tears for the CPD. But why defend Jussie at all? He clearly lied and set up the whole thing.  He's trash. The CPD is bigger trash obviously, but defending Smollet is beyond strange.

The DA probably wanted to avoid a media circus.  That's my prediction.  It's a low-level crime all things considered and Smollet has no priors. Not worth the scrutiny in an already embattled police department.

How in the world can they justify cutting funding for the Special Olympics?
Probably because they're low-key eugenicists, tbh.

That escalated quickly.

Because is easier than admitting than a gay black man can also be an asshole like any straight white dude. They dudes defending him where the same ones that fuck off when it was announced they pressed charges. They are stupid assholes that just can’t admit their persecution complex goes beyond genuine racial injustice.

It's a typical move to try to frame it as somehow punishing the Chicago Police Department or getting back at them or somehow even Jussie vs. the CPD. When it's the prosecutors office doing all of this, the case stopped being in the hands of the CPD once the criminal victim was caught and charged. It's weird to see someone not go to jail and respond with "IN YOUR FACE PIGS" unless you're obsessed with a binary world in which there's good guys (black people who are not cops) and bad guys (cops) and third parties (the prosecutor) just complicate things too much.

Because they think the victim here is the CPD. They either don't think or don't care about the resources that were wasted on this that could have gone towards addressing actual crimes.

I don't care that Smollet got off honestly as Smollet killed his career already.

I thought this would happen once he got Geragos on his team. Geragos doesn't mess around (although apparently, he's in legal trouble vis a vie Avenatti's Nike extortion case lol).

But I can still call Smollet an asshole.  And Smollet is still slandering the Nigerian brothers.  I wonder if they could sue?

always love it when "progressives" can pilpul their way through any responsibility or upholding of law/values. Also he was previously arrested for drunk driving and driving without a license and providing false information to law enforcement, to which he pleaded "no contest" in 2007.

They should have tried to reach a plea deal in that case, given that Jussie just did that anyway. They still got damaged after this and looking like incompetent assholes.

A plea deal would require him to admit guilt though.
If he doesn't want to do that and have his day in court regardless of the evidence against him... and again, the dude staged a hate crime to get a pay rise... do you want him having that day in court?

Like, the crime he would be being prosecuted for is some weak sauce shit on its own.
If he's not going to cop to it under any circumstance, their options are take it to trial or drop it. That's literally the options available.

Still, I will not be surprised if Jussie does something as stupid and destructive again. They fact that still doesn’t want to lay low feels like doing a Trump when the less damaging thing in the long run is pretending nothing happened. Hell, he can still claim he was wronged without looking like Trump’s black gay son.

A case of the visibility of Smollet going to trial would've opened the CPD to way more scrutiny both national and within the case itself. Who knows what Geragos would've brought up.

Smollett on the witness stand:

"You know, when I was in sixth grade, they told us when we went to junior high we’d be either in Track 1, Track 2, or Track 3. Track 1’s the smart kids, Track 2’s the normal kids, Track 3’s the dumb kids. And what do you think I got? How do you think it feels to be told that you’re dumb, in ink, when you’re eleven years old?"

If Smollett returns to the show, does the cast have to resign themselves to the fact that the brothers (who the cast worked with) orchestrated this shit?  Like, are they really going to have to force themselves to believe that in order to stomach working with Jussie?   :lol

I don't agree that it's "not even a factor." Obviously, it's not something that can be proven. But I fully believe that a situation like this, seeing that the largely racist original doubters of this case ended up being right about it being fake, can absolutely appear in the mind of someone who is legitimately a victim.

Quote
I want to ask why liberals always seem to care about what racist people think? Why is it that I notice people always considering the thoughts of garbage individuals?

If someone is a legitimate victim, then they know what happened is the truth. The fear is about being accused of lying or others casting doubt on their claims. The fault lies with the fucked up doubters, not the victim.

No, the real problem is that sometimes the doubters and antagonizers are the same exact ones who's job is to investigate the case impartially. Thats the real issue.

 :doge

DigitalOp is a scumbag. How the fuck you can investigate something impartially when you are not allowed to doubt the victim?

Its not convoluted at all; the ASA dropped the charges, not for lack of evidence, not for police misconduct, and not because they were convinced of his innocence.
They outright said its not a violent crime and the community service + bond were sufficient punishment.

The Smollet thread is so predictable.  I won't shed tears for the CPD. But why defend Jussie at all? He clearly lied and set up the whole thing.  He's trash. The CPD is bigger trash obviously, but defending Smollet is beyond strange.

Because is easier than admitting than a gay black man can also be an asshole like any straight white dude. They dudes defending him where the same ones that fuck off when it was announced they pressed charges. They are stupid assholes that just can’t admit their persecution complex goes beyond genuine racial injustice.

I wonder if they could sue?
will someone please think of the nigerian princes  :tocry

Horse shoe theory strikes again. So many suckers with too much money. Private twitter account access  :lol

I'm gonna fuck with the algorithm and use it to usurp power by snapping out all the mods/admins and taking command.

Doom is coming to Era

who else but excelsheet... of course she doesn't play the game, that temporary 3 minute glimpse of oblivion was too much for her.

Kamala is going to have Jussie Seth Rich'd to stoke the embers of a race war.

Remember this post in two weeks when he's found dead with a MAGA hat suspiciously placed next to him.

Hecht must have saw all the fun we were having with bork banning Jenkem and Cream and decided ResetERA.com needed some of that excitement.
