That video is cringy as fuck, but of course REE ignores the message he's trying to get across of "don't let words (even horrible ones) control you".

but if the only power other peoples words have over you is what you allow them to have, then that would mean I am in some way capable of controlling my own reactions to things, and that can't possibly be true, stop victim blaming my own victimhood

The entire purpose of dating is to sift through these types of people. Don't spend time trying to fix broken people. Be selfish and find someone without all the issues. You will have a much happier life.

I often hear the phrase "don't shit where you eat" used as a warning not to date people you work with but for reasons I can't fully put into words it comes off weirdly to me. I can kind of wrap my head around it as a socialist who thinks jobs are bad and nobody should have one and that dating is nice and good that, like, shitting refers to 'being in the workplace' and eating refers to 'dating someone you're close to and find interesting'.

I think it comes off weirdly to me because it analogizes relationships to be consumable items like food. That's the part I struggle with.

One of my favorite documentaries explored this disconnect. It interviewed some WWII-era socialists and their generational rift with the hippies of the late 60's. They were embarrassed by them because they didn't want to work for a living. Then those (of that Woodstock generation) went into the workforce and bargained away the rights of future members for more compensation for themselves. Effectively diminishing any leverage those workers would have in the future.

Not sure if I totally agree with the latter point, but it opened my eyes to the idea that the socialists of that generation weren't happy with how future generations carried on the mantle. It's not something I ever thought about.

No, it means "don't fuck up a good thing on purpose".

Shitting and eating are conscious decisions you make that shouldn't mix, since "shitting/fucking a coworker" can contaminate the "eating/making a living"
That's kind of a harsh tone to take when I don't even disagree with you, and it's not a serious matter.

I watched the Ultimate Alliance 3 trailer released today for the X-Men and I’m deeply disappointed by the design they chose for one of the announced characters Psylocke.
Of course, Team Ninja being Team Ninja, instead of choosing one of her better designs from the more recent comics, they went with her sexualized leotard design.

She’s not the only character who’s using their sexualized designs.

There’s probably more, hell I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the unlockable costumes is a Ms. Marvel outfit for Captain Marvel. I thought Marvel as a whole was moving away from these designs and it sucks to see that they’re still being used in things today and I hope there are some costumes with more sensible outfits.

Omikron was like the perfect level of stupid, and then Fahrenheit started to drift a little more...

edit: isn't David Bowie playing himself playing his avatar or something nutty like that in Omikron?

Bowie is spirit-network-resistance-prophet Boz ("The most famous pirate on the Multiplan. He knew the network by heart and got a sly pleasure from foiling Ix's attempts to identify him." to quote the wiki) but also appears as part of a music band resisting censorship laws called the Dreamers, performing several songs made for the game, that you can catch in secret concerts. I don't know if the game explicitly suggests Boz and the singer are perhaps one and the same.

I've brought it up and they tell me "oh it's just her power".

wtf is wrong with those outfits? These are all incredibly tame, ESPECIALLY Scarlet Witch. They can argue all day long that they aren't puritanical, but they're lying to themselves. Someone get those characters into a burka! NOT MODEST ENOUGH!

Although maybe Dust has got #cancelled because she was co-created by Ethan Van Scriver and G-Moz, who are both white straight men so its cultural appropriation (and also Ethan Van Scriver is a comicsgater)

We need to talk about the whitewashing of Gamora.
