While I appreciate the sincerity over ‘fake concerns’, still feels wrong.

Dude, fuck off if your reaction to a guy's suicide is how giddy you'll get over a video game forum's clumsy handling of the situation.

Anything I write about my general empathy towards suicidal ideations would just be meaningless and trite platitudes. I'm not going to fake an irrational level of sympathy or fall in line with the "too soon" meme. I respect an individuals right to commit suicide. I also believe suicide is inevitability for some people. You don't want to think this because you feel a macabre twinge to the bitter reality of the situation, which is also the reason why the suicidal can't talk to people about their feelings without it becoming a clown show. People are all too self-centered to realize it, thinking of friends and family, not the individual. Just as lethal injection is about the humanity of the executors and witnesses, not the executed.

I'm reminded of Terry Davis, who made the choice to go on his "great adventure" and end it with his suicide. When the rumors were circulating I wrote:
Quote
I think most of us were prepared for this. If it isn't true this time, it might be true in 6 months. This is how we expected it to end.

But who knows, the body might not be Etika's and he's just having a bipolar episode, maybe he'll kill himself next time, or the next time. Then ResetEra can cry "boy who cried wolf!" and ban people from talking about him.

Yeah but someone killing themselves while losing their shit in a bipolar episode isn't exactly choosing to go out on their terms

I enter this thread with a clear separation between the actual event being discussed and the reactions to it on other forums.
I actually find it horrible that someone experienced a bipolar episode that has most likely led to their suicide.
I also find it hilarious that a bunch of cunts on a forum are twisting themselves into knots over how it should be discussed to the point that someone was demodded over it and they've locked multiple threads.

Reset is dedicated to "cancelling" people who don't fall in 100% with their approved thoughts. They advocate suicide/violence for such people. A mod, in the spirit of the site, expressed indifference to such a potential suicide. But this time the tide turned, and advocating this particular suicide was removed from the "approved thoughts" list.

So yeah, it is interesting to see their reaction to that. Will they learn a lesson about their brand of online bullying (no). Will they come up with some crazy, gaslighting explanation for why their "approved thoughts" are still perfect (yes).

It's no different than people who looked forward to seeing what crazy way Sarah Huckabee Sanders would gaslight them about some awful thing the administration had done.

...ok, maybe that is weird.

I have no problem with people curious or fascinated by the reaction, I just think if your first thought to a clearly mentally unwell person committing suicide is "oh boy, I wonder how a small video game forum is going to react to this", then yeah that's some fucky priorities there.  And it's not like I'm even a very empathetic person, but I still believe you're gonna look like an asshole if you vocalize certain things.

But I also legitimately like Etika and have been bummed out over this whole thing, so what do I actually know.

Why call someone naive just because he was honest on why it was uncomfortable the reaction from BanBot? You are assuming  his thoughts are not as valid as BanBot.

I can totally accept BanBot “not caring” about Etika and waiting to the drama to unfold. My issue is him pulling a Evilore and pretending this is beyond Edgelord nihilism.

My first thought was "I wonder if that's Etika". I called you naive for your childish and irrational response to someone discussing something in proximity to a suicide, on the basis it's a suicide, because suicide is taboo and bad and you can't talk about it.
