don't you know that disney world would still exist under modern, correct interpretations of communism?  when people are free to pursue any job they like because their needs are taken care of by the collective, some will naturally gravitate toward the creation of these amazing, powerful attractions, even a world without money needs access to zones of leisure

You're obviously not alone. I just personally find this mindset sad. Traveling internationally and having cultural experiences have been some of the most valuable and rewarding experiences of my life. You're only going to be on this rock once. Why do you want to spend your vacation in a fake corporate playground?
You know where you can travel internationally? At Epcot. Just take a lap around World Showcase and you can experience 11 different cultures. All the pavilions are worked at by real natives from the countries and are funded by that countries government.

So no thanks, I would rather still just go to Disney World.

Kind of a sad mindset to have about Epcot’s World Showcase. Going there should expand your horizons, to be a taste of a larger world out there. At least that is how I feel when I went there when I was younger.

No I didn’t. I said I can’t warrant spending weeks off work and thousands of dollars to travel the world. Epcot is a 30 minute drive away.

Yes it’s not actually China but I can enjoy their cuisine, watch a documentary about China, see some interesting artifacts, and talk to natives from the country if I’m up to it. Like how dare I want to see the culture of a different place without being forced to spend thousands of dollars and time off work?

Here’s a picture of Diagon Alley in Universal. Universal worked directly with the production team of the Harry Potter films to ensure that the land was 100% true to the films and books. The buildings seem to slant in unusual ways giving the land a unique appearance. The restaurant imports many of their ingredients from the UK to ensure it properly represents the location. The windows are filled with small details like a wand floating in the air or a newspaper with moving pictures. People spend HOURS just in his small section taking in the details that were put into the land.

wait, thats a THEME PARK? I legit thought I was looking at a photo of good olde london towne

Talk to anyone there and they will love to tell you all about their home country. I can’t warrant spending weeks off work and thousands of dollars to travel the world but I can take a quick 30 minute drive to Epcot and soak in the atmosphere.

I can look at the Great Wall of China on Google Maps, and with the money I saved I can buy a gun to finally end it all.

Requesting a permanent ban please.

A couple weeks ago I got a ban for making fun of a game where you play as these little animu fairies who secretly cause these (very young looking) girls to have orgasms. I said these kinds of games are targeted at pedos, incels, and shut-ins. Okay, whatever, fair enough.

Then the mod message said something like “the only shut in here is yourself”. Hurrrrr no. Hikikomori and “herbivore men” are a thing, and they’re the audience for these games, like it or not.

Then my tag changed to “tenuously links anime, pedophile and incels”. Uh no. I was specifically making fun of one stupid weeb game, not all anime. The fact that you’d take that as an attack on all anime says more about you than me.

Anyway this site has gone downhill quite a bit since the big exodus. Maybe single-digit percentage of the activity we used to see around here. I stuck around because I thought the accusations around Evilore were BS. But honestly I don’t get any value out of it anymore.

Probably nobody cares, but adios!

And all of the Disney shills childless millennials swarm to ruin the joke

Quote from: Crossing Eden, post: 23140642, member: 8191
This is a really tone deaf comparison considering that the vast majority of Disney's output has progressive left leaning messaging and a ton of their project leads tout the importance of diversity....
Quote from: Lopez, post: 23140646, member: 23316
Funny thing is entertainment companies like Disney are small beans compared to companies AT&T. Telecoms companies  and Financial institutions pose a far larger threat to democracy.

I get that Disney is becoming too big and powerful, but they make fun products for kids and families to enjoy. Comparing them to Nazi imagery is just tone deaf and disrespectful to how awful and deadly the Nazi regime actually was.

Why does shit like this always get posted. Is it joking or people legit think this is gonna happen or something.

Ryan White, better known as Goose in the speedrunning community, is a popular YouTuber, streamer and GoldenEye speedrunner. He has set multiple records on many different levels. So, after seeing many other YouTubers trying to play games without shooting, killing or jumping, Goose decided to try beating GoldenEye on N64 without shooting. He recently created and uploaded a video detailing how he attempted this and what issues he encountered.

Quote
[Update: 2:48 PM]
I did not know of this person’s past issues involving some really shitty comments. I don’t follow speedrunning. I don’t even watch any of those Summer Games Done Quick streams or whatever. So I totally missed the news that Ryan has said some terrible things and that many have distanced themselves from him.

He works in one of the parks (as he transparently implied in another thread about a difficult breakup he had at work) as one of the disguised performers. It's probably not "astroturfing" in the truest sense but at this point it's a little dishonest and willingly or not it seems he's quoting some over enthusiastic promotional materials. AFAIK he hadn't disclosed this yesterday while going on and on about how Disney parks are world class. I mean I'm catching up and that's the fourth time he used a variation of the following sentence :

Quote
Where can you get signature dining, broadway style shows, and technologically impressive rides? Nowhere. That’s why Disney is popular.

The brigade that doesn't exist has arrived in the NDT thread :

https://www.resetera.com/threads/neil-degrasse-tyson-will-keep-his-job-at-the-american-museum-of-natural-history.131470/post-23143720

Quote
These kinds of threads are always brimming with men who have zero understanding of the factors at play in scenarios like this.

Quote
Absolutely disgusting thread (...) not slick at all

Quote
This thread is so damn gross with how much decades-old rape apologia it currently contains. FFS.

Quote
People aren't "proven" innocent most of the time. As I said in my original post in this thread, it is very difficult to prove that something didn't happen. No investigation can do that. These two investigations didn't do that. NGT was not "proven" innocent; the investigators merely concluded that they didn't have enough to go on to say that something did happen, which is not evidence of anything.

Taking a rape accusation seriously and without bias entails believing the victim since the accusation is true most of the time. It is biased to say that rape accusations should be treated neutrally since the odds of them being false is not close to 50/50.

Justice by statistics ! :science

The first part is amazing too if you read the conversation : we have to accept that false accusations will be more plentiful in raw numbers because people are allowed to speak up (ok, I can accept that) all the while saying that you'll basically never truly accept that someone has been cleared.

There are so many dubious claims being made in that thread; what actually is the end goal that they think they want?

Anyone accused of anything by anyone should become a pariah by default unless they can prove their innocence? And even then have people but-her-emails!ing their exoneration?

The burden of proof should be on someone proving a negative (which they literally concede is impossible to do) and not being able to do so should be treated as a criminal? (In fact, worse than a criminal, because actual criminal acts (which this is not) have fixed term sentences and at the end you are considered - in theory anyway - to have paid for your crime)

Create additional legislation on what is and is not acceptable behaviour for adult sexual relationships, so things like inappropriate commentary become classified as actual assault? Does anyone really want to open that can of worms? The government telling you what is and is not legally accepted sexual conduct?

In fairness, UK travel warnings for the US rank it with high risks of terrorism, street crime, natural disasters such as hurricanes, and contracting Zika :trumps

LewieP President of gaming deals that promote known hate publisher THQ had this to say

Main thing I'd advise is for him to go out of his way to avoid any kind of argument, conflict or altercation with anyone (cop or otherwise), because there's a significant chance they might have a gun and be willing to use it.

These people clearly have never been to America, people are for the most part not likely to pull a gun unless you really start some stupid shit.

Cracks me up. Trump's America is a war-ravaged nazi hellhole, right up until the point where you ask if it's a war-ravaged nazi hellhole. At that point, the answer is 'no obviously not where on earth did you get that idea?'

Gaslighting. That's what's going on there. I think, anyway, as nobody ever produced a smug comic to tell me what gaslighting is.
