The big change here is the dumb Chinese market. Rothman can make garbage movies, but unlike Star Wars who has failed to earn footing in China, Marvel (comics) properties have found buoyancy. Venom was basically floated by them, not the west. They seem more than happy to support drivel.

Yeah I ain't watching the next live action Spider-Man film in theaters if it's not MCU-related.
The saddest part of all of this is that Mysterio being added into the MCU was basically the one thing keeping me invested in MCU films at all.This idiocy basically just killed my interest in any Marvel movies from Sony OR Disney moving forward. I'm not watching Sony's solo Spidey films (especially if their walking turd of a Venom is involved) and I really don't care about anything Feige has coming either. What a loss.
