S*ny was founded by members of the Japanese Navy, who were allies of the Nazis.

Meanwhile at Disney:
Quote
In Der Fuehrer’s Face, Donald Duck experiences a day in a Nazi country where he has to make do with eating ridiculous Nazi food rations (smell of bacon and eggs, coffee made with one bean, and a slice of stale bread) experiences a day at a Nazi artillery factory and breaks down. He wakes up realizing that the experience was a nightmare, embraces a model of the Statue of Liberty and exclaims Am I glad to be a citizen of the United States of America!

In Commando Duck, Donald, by himself, destroys an entire Japanese airbase.

Meanwhile at Marvel:

I don't think it's too far fetched to say that Marvel, with the assistance of Disney, single handedly won World War II and ended Nazism until GamerGate.

Gotta admit its hilarious to watch MCU fan boys having meltdowns.

Manabyte is having a full on mental break down on Twitter.

Holy shit this is fucking pathetic. How vacuous of a person do you have to be to not notice that you are kicking and screaming like an incomprehensible child.

I would just like to say on behalf of all MCU fans (I polled them all independently) we have decided to release and disavow ManaByte

thank you for understanding

POINT OF PERSONAL PRIVILEGE :

Spidey vs Venom > Venom 2 (Carnage) > all the various spinoff villain movies > ghetto Sinister Six vs Spider-Man
there's your Sony SCU
You shouldn’t use “ghetto” as a pejorative like this as it has racial connotations

It does?

Thanks, I didn't necessarily think of ghetto as a black neighborhood cause the first time I heard the word was in the context of the Warsaw ghetto.

Yeah no racial connotations there. :foodcourt

The ERArt of the Deal :

Quote
Agree to the 50/50 split, but demand 15% of any movie that Spidey appears in and lock in his next 3 or 4 MCU appearances.
They'd probably say no, then you start to negotiate the 50% down to 20 or 30%
Don't just walk away from the table. Get back up there and make a fucking deal.

The Sony Brand is finally over. Maybe next decade!

It's over, period. Sony lost their last ace, and that's the end of their film hopes and dreams.

It's not hyperbole, it's not fanboy drivel. It is LITERALLY it for Sony Pictures. Sony has nothing left, nothing they can reveal tomorrow would fix the hole now created. There is no reason left for any one, hardcore or casual, to substantively invest in their cinematic universe. Except if they want to see Bond. Which will also come to Disney at some point.

The age of Sony is done.

The fact that this happened 3-4 days before D23 is kind of amazing in and of itself. I'm actually wondering who leaked it now. If it was Disney it was well played. If it was Sony then it's a misread of the situation. The heat is mostly on them.
Quote
Disney and marvel can easily destroy the spider man franchise and affect Sony. Look at what they did to ff, and X-men.

marvel can kill peter Parker and shut down every spider man comic for a year. See how Sony responds when they try to release a movie..

The superhero craze has gone from weird to background noise and now back to weird again. I can't believe how much time grown adults spend discussing this shit and how much money is tied up in it all.

Look at the 'which media company owns spandex-man now' thread in comparison to any of the threads on serious issues they pretend to care about and the difference is staggering. Nearly 4,000 comments in under 24 hours, all of which is completely inconsequential nonsense.

I guess I'm just one of those old, out-of-touch folks that don't 'get' things any more. It's a frustrating and bewildering feeling, but I'm sure it'll pass.

It's probably not new but I'm a bit unnerved at how the wording of those fanboy meltdowns, on top of the juvenile mindset, is seemingly regressing to child like level (ugh, fuck, not fair, etc...). Though ERA basically welcome any vexing news with a barrage of "fuck X, fuck Y, fuck me forever".

It's not even treating corporations as friends but as a parent.

I would love to see a study into how much damage has been caused by the current state of media both social and entertainment.
Like I can't imagine back in the day there being this many adults who are apart of online cults sucking the dicks of corporations and seemingly this unhinged.
It's just crazy really, I know reset is a bubble, but then you go on twitter and elsewhere online and this whole #BoycottSony thing is really gaining speed.
Surely there is also a link to how depressed, fat and single people are these days, they can't even get dates.

As much as the outrage is hilarious, I find it concerning these people are allow to vote, I guess at least they're not breeding so that's a win?

So what do you think, ERA? Is Disney/Marvel going to be petty and take the license elsewhere? Is it going to be business as usual since film and video games are different mediums? Or is everyone just jumping to conclusions too soon and need to chill?

Personally, I think it's the last one. I doubt we've heard the last of this whole ordeal.

He might bring it up himself if he sees it on Fox News. It's about business, a foreign company (Sony) and one of his friends (Perlmutter).
The odds are 50/50 Trump will make a comment on this  :doge

that an all american super hero is being held prisoner in a copyright law battle by foreign company.
This is disgusting, please help our great american studio Disney reclaim him from these god damn japs #maga2020"

Don't worry too much, voters in the past were probably as uneducated and fickle as they are now (not that I count myself as above that).
There's definitely a streak of infantility that might be specific to our time but I don't want to commiserate too much for fear of slipping down that slope towards "What the youth of today need is a good war." Von Moltke level of delusion.

On Era they are all 30-something year olds.
The bigger 'issue' is the void left by removing the corner stones of society such as religion and family. Corporations are worshipped simply for their existence, not their particularly good products and they actively built these rabid fan communities(cults).
I think it was RLM who said that Star Wars events were like political rallies and that is exactly what they are.

In a sense corporations are also getting high on their own supply (which will be their undoing) because 90's Disney would never had proposed a take it or leave it deal to Sony based on access to comic book movie Jesus.

Someone on the bore made a perfect post to describe these weird times. I think it was headwalk.

It's no longer about nations, ideologies, or ethnicity. It's an endless series of online battles,
fought by shills and machines. War--and its consumption of life--has become a well-oiled machine.
War has changed. Gamer-tagged soldiers carry weapon skins, use Pay to win gear.
Nanomachines inside their bodies enhance and regulate their feelings toward franchises. Genetic control, information control, emotion control, battlefield control…
everything is monitored and kept under control. War…has changed.
The age of deterrence has become the age of control for multimedia,
all in the name of averting catastrophe from fans stanning the next greatest thing of mass audience approval,
and he who controls the franchise, controls history War…has changed.
When the franchise is under total control, wars of cancelling becomes routine.
