There needs to be a big, curated central place for trans people to be able to speak to each other in confidence, and discuss issues they face with their unique situation, without it spiraling out into a tornado of bullshit and classism. A forum for trans folks, a gated discord, whatever can be healthily moderated.

Because twitter isn’t working. Saying somebody passes beautifully or handsomely, will always sound like “you look great, hon,” in a wide space like twitter. Criticizing somebody’s unique issues in their unique way of living will always look sketchy or righteous out in the open. And no matter what, if even an inkling of your identity is out in the open, you will most likely be harassed every single day, and for many, that is rightly impossible to live with.

Is there a hangout strictly for Trans Folks? Because maybe there should be one. The community at large needs to stick together, work out their own system for discussing the troubles they face, individually and as a group, and find a method of supporting each other that feels legitimate, and helps them grow together, regardless of hardship.

And that’s not going to happen if they constantly have to hold themselves accountable to the internet at large, majorly ignorant and sadly quite hostile. They need to get together and lock the doors until they have a foundation of support that they can rely on.

Maybe turn off the other social media’s, go dark and make their own echo chamber, whatever can be done to enrich a community of individuals, brought together out of love and support despite wide differences, and help them focus on building something trans people of all walks of life can truly feel safe coming back to.

The “context” is regardless of what the artist is about the adult swim Twitter account posting it in a specific way and the trashfire in the comments section because it has reached the people they meant it too. There is your “context”.

I’m pretty sure it wasn’t good considering how they have been of late and they are not trying to deny it or defend themselves. But in the end regardless of their intent it just shows me I have no interest in what they are peddling even if it wasn’t meant that way, because a lot of their fans in the comments sure think it was and are happy, and they are not taking time to disabuse them of that notion. They must have known what kind of controversy it would create and that’s not a good look to me either, in a world where the trans community is one of the groups suffering the most under Donald Trump why even court that, you could just keep your mouth shut, it’s irresponisble at best.

As I said, regardless of intent (obviously I am not their Twitter person) they must have known the shitstorm it would cause and no attempts to clarify are not good either.

This isn’t just “altrighters will co-op Joker” it’s something that can be interpreted as anti trans, calling them or journalists or whatever (I’ll venture not a good comic) liars, in a country where the violence against Trans people is astronomical and the government is trying their hardest to legislate them out of exsistence and strip as many protections as possible.

If you cannot see how that is harmful on a whole other level I am not going to sit and argue with you since I don’t think our world views are similiar enough to come to an agreement, especially when it sparks a comment section that makes me fearful just for existing in these peoples eyes.

I never got quite understood and knew this site could be hypocritical on this particular but now I am starting to get for every one trans poster that stays there are two more that leave.

It’s just frustrating, I wish more people would try seeing things through the eyes of others. Being offended isn’t always a logic thing, especially when it hits you in the gut where you live. And adult swim, employing the artist or not posted it without context and some of their fans who are anti-trans took it as such and congratulated them, and that’s scary in a country where the government is stripping protections left and right and trans people are getting killed at disproportional rates, so I do think it’s irresponsible to publish something that can be read as trans people are liars.

Be prepared to be mocked and face ridicule and either a) lighten up and appreciate the ‘banter’ or b) stand up for myself and thus be seen to sour the situation.
Find an appropriate avenue to try and tell them, without it edging into the "you're not special" territory (and trusting they won't go there anyway)
Consider the fact that even if they react well that behind closed doors this might spread in an unsavoury manner
So someone asking pronouns is nice as it suggests both an awareness and an acceptance of trans identities. It doesn’t remove all of the doubt but it’s an olive branch toward me showing some degree of understanding.

That isn’t to say the solution is to ask everyone their pronouns all of the time. I don’t know the solution. I just know the attitude of ‘if I misgender you then that’s your problem and it’s on you to correct me’ seems to treat me stating my pronouns unprompted and someone asking them as a 1:1 equal and easy experience, when it isn’t.

What is meant by non-binary?
Put simply, non-binary people don't fit into the binary choice of “Male or Female”. A non-binary person could be someone who has never identified enough with the default gender descriptions to fit in neatly to either category, it could be someone who feels as if they flit between the two, or it could even be a person who simply denies the idea that gender can be so easily and neatly separated into two categories.
