User banned (5 days): antagonizing another member with avatar-shaming, abusing the report system

Looking at your avatar and username I don’t think you should judge 😬

User banned (1 day): Lazy dev rhetoric

When will it be acceptable to use lazy dev rhetoric in this context

What if I cite sources

User Banned (1 Week): Inflammatory Generalization Surrounding Race

Nah. He’d be one of the last against the wall. He’d be against the wall eventually, of course, but Asians would go after all the other minorities for these assholes.
I'm not quite sure that's the most... appropriate... ban message here.

Can we finally get around to imprisoning all of celebrities who stanned for Polanski?

I don’t know why we’d group people who defend rapists together with people who made off color jokes.

I’m not gonna say we should cancel them, but the people who defend Polanski can get fucked.

That's what I mean, I think there's far too much room for forgiveness in our modern society if those people get forgived.

I can just imagine Suzuki at the plate next season, and the pitcher on the mound is Mexican immigrant who's family has been affected by Trump's policies one way or another. The pitcher remembers this moment at the WH, and puts a 96 MPH fastball right in Suzuki's rib cage. The pitcher is ejected from the game to a standing ovation.

Wickedly funny and quietly moving.

Blizzard have obviously waded into a situation it knows little about and have ostensibly chosen China's money over its players, but to pretend the Hong Kong protests is a purely peaceful democratic movement is being ignorant. Look at what they're actually doing in the streets.
And yup. Here it is.

"Oh my guys they weren't exactly super nice so really who's to say who is the worst here c'mon now."

Dude, we know full well the extent of what is going on. We see it reported by people like you even. But you have to talk in vague terms and pretend you have things we don't know about so we feel like you have authority to correct us. No dude. We know. There are plenty of people willing and able and who have provided every small detail.

Fuck you for defending an evil government by lightly insinuating those they are oppressing are at fault. Nothing the protestors COULD do justifies the actions of the government there.

Plus, there's also the fact that you're acting like in any way, that protesters doing wrong justifies what Blizzard has done here. That's bullshit. The Chinese government is overstepping their bounds and using shameful, horrible, terrifying tactics to suppress the rebellion in ways that are NEVER justified. EVER. They are violations of human rights. Full stop. Defending Blizzard for banning someone for trying to reach the world in support of those being repressed is disgusting. And trying to act like the protestors' actions in any way absolve Blizzard of wrongdoing is manipulative and slimy. Fuck off.

Quote
sheaaaa said:
Telling someone who actually lives in Hong Kong to fuck off because they have a different opinion than you? That's very Communist Party of you.
No dude, you're putting words in my mouth. You're telling other people they are wrong and you are manipulating the situation to try to make people feel guilty so they can't call you out. It's transparent, and I'm calling you out for it.

You are welcome to think the protestors are overstepping their bounds, but the way you are doing it is slimy and shitty, and somehow tying that to justifying Blizzard's behavior is stupid. Nice attempt at a gotcha though.

Gotta love an American talking shit to someone from HK about HK!

Dude catches a one day ban for hostility.

No. I went to a Halloween/birthday party with some friends Friday night. Got high which was cool. Played some Modern Warfare online with my friends during the day on Saturday . Went to see Terminator with a friend and then one of those Asian places where they cook in front of you at night . Tried the Battlefield V DLC and was disappointed on Sunday, then played  some Ghromehaven(is that what it’s called)with my boss.  Then went back to work and had a pretty easy couple of medical set ups to do and patients to check on.

Why would I punch my screen? These things aren’t cheap.

I think it's really important when someone from a marginalized group tells you that a certain behavior is harmful, it comes from a place of very real pain. People are eager to join in the conversation, but sometimes the most productive thing you can do is listen. Outright dismissal and invalidation of feelings seen in so-called progressive spaces like this one can often be more hurtful than the words bigots say.

Era's trans community is one of the smallest on the site, judging from the size of the TransEra thread, and its members should have the right to express their concerns without having to deal with dismissive nonsense.

If you are a cis person and think that some threads are the result of "other people becoming too sensitive", then you should take a seat and listen. Yielding your half baked opinion to give more trans people an opportunity to speak up is not your undoing.

It sucks that this thread was needed but it was. Thanks for doing this OP. I'm still upset over that one person in a thread a month ago who was complaining that trans identity shouldn't be on birth certificates due to potentially "misinforming medical specialists" or some stupid BS like that. Even though that thread is old now, I'm still upset about it. I'm tired of having to defend my existence on a daily basis in life.

This is absolutely a major issue that doesn't ever seem to really get addressed within the moderation. Throughout the entirety of that last thread and the amount of dismissive and insulting takes that we had towards the trans community here, there were 2 warnings and a 1 day ban given out.

Someone saying "This is a ridiculous and stupid thing to get mad about." is someone that doesn't see action. When someone says something blatantly transphobic they'll get a small ban for sure, but these people that are insulting and dismissive towards us never see action. They continue to act this way while seeing the trans community here as the real problem because that's what's allowed to happen time and time again.

Not all of the fault falls on Era moderation, but we're not really able to talk about these issues that exist or question them without fear of being hit worse than the people that are insulting us for criticizing bigotry.

I think it's the former, but I get your confusion, as I asked myself the same question while reading the article.

Say what you want about the quality of poster and site owner over at NaziGAF (and the majority are the lowest of scum), they do appear to have decent forum moderation.

That pitcher’s name? Alberto Einstein.

Ketkat was the only person on my ignore list on Era. Truly insufferable.
So you admit to not sitting down and listening to marginalized voices but instead ignoring them.

Some of y'all ain't that fucking slick as you think you are.

Actually I remember having 3 or 4 users on my ignore list once, and they were all important members of Era's trans community. Like incelsiorief and Platy. But after I noticed the pattern I didn't want to be transphobic like marrec, so I removed most of them and just kept Ketkat there.

User Warned: Inflammatory false equivalence

This reminds of Brexit, we now have two polarised camps each convinced they're right, each hating the other and side and a most prepared to fight over it!

As such, user reviews will be as mentioned above, as the confirmation bias on both sides is now so strong.
