Yeah while I think internet message boards are quick to suggest fire and brimstone cutting ties, there are times when you’re in an environment of deep seeded toxicity and the only way to maintain personal well-being is to draw a hard and impermeable boundaries.

I did the same thing 10 years ago; grew up in a very abusive house where I could have easily been protected by outside family members but instead of doing anything I just got prayers. Or was told to forgive.. by my church pastor when I came to him in pieces because I was afraid to go home and terrified for my siblings. So yeah, when I got married I decided that I couldn’t start a family and bring them into that ugliness*. So I just flat out ghosted them all entirely. Wrote my mom a dear John letter of sorts a few months later,  she called and didn’t seem to understand. At that point I realized it was hopeless.

It drained me emotionally for a long time after but time really does heal all wounds I guess.

Since i actually understand politics and the shit he's doing and i have this thing called empathy, it's awful to say i haven't been affected. I can see the direct dominoes falling years from now based on the actions happening now. I mean for one, the economy is gonna tank eventually, probably during a dem term.
