Sounds like their calculus is that most people will be wearing masks anyway and they can avoid confrontations with the few cranks who are dead set on not wearing them.

I see where they're coming from but still think it's wrong. People are taking their cues from how the institutions around them are reacting. If businesses are opening back up and not requiring masks that's going to reinforce the idea that we're safe and don't need to take precautions. Governments and businesses (especially big chains like this) can't expect everyone to independently assess the risk or to react more to their statements than to their actions. It's like the TX gov blaming people after giving them every indication it was cool to start mingling again.

One of the geniuses mentioned how the mayors and governors and potus are saying everything is honkey dory and that's why they were laiz a faire about going out.

Not everyone keeps up with the spikes and dips of the daily deaths.

Back in April, New York and New Jersey were contributing about half of it on their own.

I think there is going to be an issue where no one will care until the deaths jump and by that time you will have four or five states all being hit hard. And that takes like 2-3 months to come back from. There is also the issue of the election, not just rallies, but this will become even more political.

I remember reading that article. One of the conclusions that if it was possible, wearing pants and underpants were probably effective enough filters to black transmission from farts. Which is more evidence that masks or any other filter you can place over your nose and mouth will help stop transmission from those open areas.

Yes, there’s probably about ten times as many tests per day as at around the start of the chart.

Oh I don't think the change in testing is what's driving the spikes in AZ/FL/TX/NC/SC the last two or three weeks. The amount of testing hasn't changed that much, and the positive rate has spiked along with cases. Those places are spiking for real.

I mean looking at confirmed cases now vs. April and earlier when we had a much, much lower testing capacity and they were basically rationing tests. It's plausible that they were testing the most vulnerable patients which skewed the age distribution of official confirmed cases. I know a friend of a coworker got it in late March but they didn't give her a test because she's in her 20's and the advice was "act like you've got it, isolate, and only come to the hospital if it gets really bad."

I'm not entirely sure Europe is still fighting. Obviously we're not fighting right now as infections have fallen dramatically in most countries. However, most experts predict a second wave, and I'm not sure we'll be in lockdown the next time around. Especially considering there is a drug that is at least some way effective now. Cut deaths by one third. I have a feeling most leaders will say that's enough and call it quits. And I think most people will support it.

Yeah that overflow outside event isn't going to happen.
It's a big crowd but not at the numbers they expected.

This rally was Parscales idea, including the date and venue.
