So there's in-person testing with doctor prescrip I can get over the phone (my brother already got one for tomorrow) at the place my dad got tested and their results are quick within about 2 days. But you have to go in-person to a room/area where lots of people who may have been Covid positive have been throughout the day to get tested. My dad said when he went he had to stay in his car and then they called him in and the room was empty and someone came in and did the test. So it sounds mostly safe, but there's still a lot we don't know about the disease like how long it stays in the air and stuff (and no idea how long between appointments).
There's a Sean Penn group covid testing thing in a mall parking lot near me that is drive-through, but results take about 4-5 days. I'm assuming the tests are as good. I feel like that lowers the risk of potentially catching it if you don't have it, but it also means longer until you find out anything.
There's also the potential both ways of the person administering the test to be contagious, but I feel that's pretty unlikely especially with the mask and gloves, so I wouldn't worry about that.
Alternatively, because the only contact I had was outdoors and 10-12ft away with some side wind not blowing towards me or away from me, and because I am in a high risk group (I just got my immune suppressing meds last week so I have no immune system for next 8-9 weeks), I could wait and see if I get any symptoms before getting tested.
I think the drive-thru method is the most safe and then at least I'll know in a week. So I should probably try to do that tomorrow.
