After all I am no writer and my mind buzzes with the possibilities for stories and even the character creator and how you would have this universes inhabitants react to that, even if it's no reaction*, to see a Feminine body with a masculine voice for example. An older client using out of date pronouns and that causing you to search for the wrong suspect for example. Your PC being mocked by others for not knowing appropriate "neutral pronouns" and having that being barrier against speaking with certain NPC's. Adding a whole universe appropriate patois to act as neutral pronouns to cover those languages today that do not have neutral pronouns after all, why bother with the expense of translating something into several languages when you can create some "klingon" which the player can translate from context.
The BBC in the 80's had Esperanto in Red Dwarf for some "future flavour" the BBC in the 80's had crew on strike all the time and could barely afford sets, yet they could afford imagination.
That creatives could miss the opportunity to use this as content is baffling, so like you say astro one can only assume its deliberate.
*And even no reaction is a great source for content, something which is "unusual" to us in 2020 is not in 2077.
Meh... had Zinfandel and Byriani, tired now tired of being sad. Tired that every bit of content seemingly comes from creatives who hate someone. I don't recall creatives being so hateful.
No fucking shit you're not, and literally nobody wants to play your Nonbinary Sue character.
The setting is pretty fucking simple; life is cheap, corps run the world, and everything is style over substance.
It's the hyper-accelerated '80s.
People aren't arguing about fucking pronouns in this setting because if a man wants to present as a woman (or vice versa) they just go buy that kit at the shop.
It's literally a fucking fashion statement.
It's a future where changing your gender is as fucking controversial as changing your haircut, which
you would assume is a bright light for people with gender identity issues even within the rest of the dystopian setting, that tech can reach the point where 'passing' is a total fucking non-issue.
Fuck, the tabletop lets you
actually be an attack helicopter and completely upload your consciousness into a military vehicle if you really fucking want to.
Complaining about pronouns and 'fetishisation'
in the context of that universe is
spectacularly missing the point.
go make your own fucking game about Battlefield Xir or wtfever if you're so desperate for a lecturing polemic that makes no fucking sense based on the internal logic of how that world would work.
