Too many people are operating on and making suggestions for changes based on the assumption that it’s the content of this message board is what is driving people to these dark mental places, as opposed to the idea that this message board community is acting as a place people feel comfortable crying out for help to. It could be any number of personal, private things that can drive people to feel this way. Assuming it’s because “the front page threads are depressing”’without any actual evidence of this seems reductive.

Front page currently has multiple political threads full of the usual fear mongering. But NinjaScooter is one of the biggest bootlickers over there so of course he thinks this.

Hobbes is an absolute fucking idiot.  If you go into a therapist's office and say "I've decided to end it all.  I'm sorry" (which was the content of one of the suicide threads) they absolutely will be sending you to a psych unit to at least be assessed, if not put on a 72 hour hold.

Era is depressing as fuck and filled seriously angry people. We regularly have threads where people talk about not having kids because the world is fucked and there’s no point making it worse. I often get the impression that these people are angry that their parents even had them in the first place.

There’s a lot of bad shit in the world and not everyone has the same experience, but I still find many things that bring me joy and make me want to keep fighting for a better future. It’s incredibly hard to relate many times.

It’s pretty ableist to suggest that a blind person can’t successfully drive a car or pilot a plane. I know there have been many times where I’ve had to navigate around in pitch black darkness when I’m having sexual relations or trying to go take a piss. Now granted, once you know the layout of a place you can use muscle memory to find your way around.

So the solution is simple: blind people can only drive and fly memorized routes. Perhaps they can act as train conductors. They’d literally be on rails at all times.

I LITERALLY TRIED TO KILL MYSELF AND WAS HANDCUFFED TO A BED. I HAD PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE. I recall only one person actually giving a shit to try and talk to me about things.7
