Quite frankly, saying "just vote lmao" is a pretty insulting thing to say to the protesters, as if they haven't been doing every goddamn thing they can with their legally given rights for decades upon decades.

People have hit this point because voting has failed them. They've voted for years and years and are still waiting for that 51% majority to determine change is necessary. Fair treatment of minority populations always need to be enforced before it becomes a popular vote, to think otherwise is to deny how vulnerable they are and the severity of the abuses they're suffering. It's to simply accept massive loss of life in the intervening period just because a mass of idiots say it's not time yet, and to say that's the beauty of democracy.

This isn't a response to your post in particular, I'm just mad at how many people in that thread are fine with "just vote" as anything more than a platitude.
