I’m assuming this is a stealth Cyberpunk post, and it’s a little disingenuous to paint people’s issues with that game as being with the social media guy. The twitter feed having multiple transphobic tweets was only a predecessor to the game itself also stumbling in that area (after making some big promises over things like how robust the gender options in the character creator would be, no less)
Can we unpack this?
Would someone like to enumerate the ways in which what we have seen of Cyberpunk so far is transphobic?
I'm not unreasonable, pick out, oh, the top three most egregious examples. That are unrelated to things said on twitter, which was literally just claimed to not be the issue.
Feel free to cross reference against the 'promises' made with regard to the character creation.
This is a bit

but I also really want to examine how silly this situation is
All these controversies are the kind of shit that sounds worse if you just type "they were transphobic again and again!" instead of looking at the actual events.
Controversy 1. : The cyberpunk twitter account joked "Did you just assume their gender?" after someone's response to a picture of cdpr dev. Silly internet joke that I can see people get offended by but at the same time nothing that makes me assume they're a raging transphobe.
Controversy 2.: The GOG twitter account made some joke about a trending hashtag that was trans related. The joke wasn't malicious and it was also quickly deleted.
While all of this was going on there were constant complaints on RE about how CDPR is not really getting cyberpunk because they're aren't any trans/nonbinary options in the character creator and how that's really problematic. Eventually CDPR announced that you'll be able to mix genitals and body types as much as you like which I guess this guy considers "big promises"
Controversy 3.: were complaints about the poster of the lady with robot dick which felt pretty disingenuous when RE themselves had declared genderfluidity as such an essential element of cyberpunk. Why wouldn't those characters appear in advertisments.
Controversy 4.: The players assumed gender appears to be determined by the voice option. Here I somewhat understand the complaints as they're mad that low pitched voices are designated as male and high pitched voices as female, but at the same time I figure anyone trans would want to choose a voice that more strongly reflects their gender identity anyway + I have a feeling there would be some outrage if a rough male sounding, super masculine looking person refers to themselves woman, as that'd be a pure caricature of transwomen.
Controversy 5.: "Only one type of vagina. Pre-order cancelled" This one has nothing to do with transphobia and it feels like they're now mad at any edgy comment.
