It's true you don't, but his whole Flint thing is phony, he sticks it everywhere (like his Twitter handle) then will admit he's not from there if anyone actually asks. Same with his wealth, he'll admit he's become wealthy and lives that way. But he claims to want taxes raised when it's pointed out. It's just like his filmmaking, lots of attempts at slight of hand.
Anyway, some recipes:
Right on his Wikipedia you can see he's from Davison, which after Grand Blanc, is the rich suburbs of Flint. It's not even one of the suburbs with similar socioeconomic statistics, it's way more upper class white. (Recipes self-doxxing: Me and my mom's family are from Flint, Burton and Clio.)
When he got divorced he tried to sell his Traverse City area vacation home where he spent most of his pre-divorce Michigan time for $5+ million:

I was wrong after searching, he apparently now lives on the Upper West Side, not directly in Manhattan anymore. It's a condo that was three apartments prior to his purchasing it says the Daily Mail which is an impeccable source.
Traverse City is one of the Vail's of Michigan in terms of socioeconomics, super-white and 1%er filled. Hence, why they have a fucking film festival which is Moore's most prominent charity display, nothing in Flint that I recall. He's a useful tool sometimes but that's about it for him and Flint.
