I remember in 2016 I was terrified of posting anything remotely right of center for fear of getting banned. You have really turned this place around. It is a place where people of all political ideologies can exchange ideas without the usual cancel culture bullshit that we see over at some other sites.

Thanks to everyone who regularly posts and for providing me with hundreds of hours of entertainment, and thoughtful discussion.

Reason #1: People dont like having a lot of games to play. Everyone is always complaining about their backlogs and how they will never get to all the games they own. Having a bunch of games just feels like work.
Reason #2: People dont care about old games (very generalized obviously.) They will always pass up old stuff to play new games and be part of a conversation. No one cares if you are playing gamepass.
Reason #3: More on the Netflix for games thing, games just arent the same as movies and tv shows. No one sits down not knowing or caring what they are going to play. The whole browsing the library and just picking out something to play, I dont think that happens.

I guess all this applies to things like EA access and Ubisoft+ too. I remembered Ubisoft had a thing! Did you? I dont know if I got the name right tho.

I do think just having a game suddenly at your disposal can devalue it in your mind, I've bought a lot of games for friends and had games bought for me that then become less of a priority

The way things are now is much more aligned with my original vision of the forum, which is as a kind of Babylon Five neutral ground where people can discuss different views as long as they're civil and steer clear of hate and extremism. I definitely let that goal slip away circa 2015-2017, leaving an increasingly volatile powderkeg of hatred, extremism, and mental illness with an inevitable result.

Fortunately, I've had an opportunity to rebuild with a far stronger foundation consistent with that mission statement, and a cool group of people with whom I respect. On topic, I agree. @EviLore has made this place into an even better version of what it was. I only caught the tail end of the meltdown but knew something didn't make sense. When he provided his explanation, I knew I could join the board because he seemed like a stand-up dude. This board is a great place to have discussions... Most of the time.  🤗

Okay, so, this is a personal and somewhat complex web of nonsense involving a highly unstable individual I was friends and briefly FWBs with, but I can only assume there will be a never-ending clusterfuck on gaf now until the end of time, which inevitably involves you guys and gals on the mod team in some way, so I'm an open book here. The woman in question ended up being completely psychotic and held a grudge against me after a bizarre love triangle situation developed a few years ago between me, her, and another girl (the other girl I ended up in a long-term relationship with shortly thereafter). This NOLA story she apparently just put up on social media is a delusion of a deeply disturbed person who had a total psychological breakdown as a result of me and the other girl getting together, because she (phew, yeah…) became obsessively infatuated with the other girl (she's bi) on sight when the three of us met up. I wanted to just stay friends with the girl making the accusation and made it super super clear ahead of time that me and the other girl were interested in each other romantically and that could play out as such when we met up. Supposedly this was not a problem for her from accusation, but in reality she uhhh wanted me to die painfully after seeing me and the other girl interact. Plus she became infatuated with the other girl simultaneously to this (she's bi), which created the aforementioned bizarre love triangle that ended up causing her to implode and have an apparently very intense and long-lasting grudge. The whole story about how that love triangle thing played out is, frankly, nuts and scary, and involves this girl bringing us to a compound of dangerous scientology spinoff cultists on that same trip, who roofied us, attempted to recruit/scam me and attempted to abduct/rape the girl I ended up dating, in what was a fucking scary situation that resulted in me and the other girl and the rest of my friend circle never speaking to this girl from the accusation again.
