Trump is a boorish obnoxious asshole, and dubya came off like an affable moron, but when the dusts settled and you can look at what actually happened under each regime, its pretty tough to say Trump was soooooo much worse than Bush Jr that you can't even compare them.

Honestly I think today marks the death of any kind of left-wing figure ever getting elected in any major democracy ever again.

We can't do radical. We can't do moderate. We can't even do old-fashioned right-wing politics. Meanwhile the right-wing can literally do nothing but fuck up and kill millions and everywhere still votes for them in overwhelming numbers. And as time goes by the margins are only going to get greater and it's only going to get more and more likely that new generations, which might have saved us otherwise, will just vote for the new status quo as well.

There are literally no roads for anyone who isn't a right-wing demagogue to win anymore. It's just not going to happen, and I think we just need to start preparing for how we want to live our lives knowing what's to come.
